Are more Americans killed in war or by big pharma?

That gets a little blurry sometimes. One place I worked did 4 tens, which was awesome. Another did 5 tens + and 8 on saturday. Not quite as awesome. Then, for production goals would call for 7 12’s until production goals were met. That sucked. Total beatdown. Safety flys out the window, and serious injury skyrockets.

Anyways, in my experience, it varies. No matter how you slice it, Castoli sucks.

I’ve done 90+ hour weeks, over new years, easter, mothers day, and was proud of a $900 paycheck. Pretty much selling my body to labor.

Now it’s about 18 hours of work, and the rest is childcare, domestic stuff, and creativity.

I’d guess with returning to office and always having to answer your phone, 50-60 hours from the employees view.

Agreed. I have some advice for him from his pillow.

These support Castoli’s 1/3 of the week is consumed to do work.

IMO, you don’t represent the average American worker

The government is the #1 employer in the US, which includes the military and teachers.

Second is the hospitality industry, including grocery stores.

The Third is hospitals, healthcare, and nurses.

I don’t think they only work 40 hours.

When some office worker complains about anything I like to joke “Yeah, I remember my first part-time job.”

I think it depends on what type of work and where you fall in the ladder.

Production workers get absolutely hammered. Mandatory overtime, swing shifts, crazy HR/attendance rules that make it almost impossible to call out for sickness/family emergencies even if you have the PTO without getting a point (or how ever your company recognizes demerits).

Salaried office workers not in a management role (individual contributors) probably have the “Best” life in business. Are they asked to work over 40, sure. But they can reasonably leave at 5:00 and not be too persecuted.

Once you move into some form of management or leadership that all changes, especially if they put you on a digital leash (Company Phone Plan). Most people i know in these rolls are expected to be available 24/7 in some capacity. Stress levels can be high and you’re dealing with managing up and down the chain.

These generalities do not take into account personal drive and ambition. I know a lot of ICs who routinely work over their 40 for the benefit of the company or customer, and I know a lot of Management/SLT guys who are meat puppets warming a seat. YMMV.

Perhaps he, like most of us here, just ask smarter and more sensible questions that, when answered, contribute to pushing society forward.

It starts with having a job and goes from there.

Nothing is being kept from them, but people are either willing to go through it or not willing to try other things.

Perhaps. I have not looked into it too much, but I can’t imagine going through all the treatments without doing so.

Very possible.

A major grocery store where I live is Publix. There are more 20 hour/wk employees than there are 40 hour/wk employees. The parttime employees are not given benefits (which Castoli will be all over as an evil corporation.)

Many hospitals have weekend jobs that are less than a 40 hour/wk jobs.

Many of these have parttime employees

And do those representatives represent the people(you)?

Ok, a good deal of their life is spent at work and would be better if they had more say in how things are run.

Late breaking news report - corporations have a fiduciary responsibility to return value to their owners.

That is it - there is no soul.

If you have a problem with this, do not buy stocks in corporations, do not shop at corporate owned stores. Find your mom and pop farm for produce, eggs, but meat directly from the farmer.

Don’t work for soulless corporations.

Don’t watch soulless corporate media, avoid using gas or electricity, yadda yadda yadda.

Be content with what you have rather than what you don’t.

God suggests a little different expectation of work:

Genesis 3:17, “And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.”

Ever hear of Christopher Hitchens?

Nope.

Today is the first time I heard or saw his name. A quick Google and I don’t need waste my time to look further. Thank you.

Pretty clear that your god is a fraud.

If it is detrimental to the customer but profit can be made from it, it is kept from the consumer. Just like the dangers of Vioxx. gotta make more money and death as a consequence is no deterrent. It’s money that matters. Hey it’s capitalism!

Try looking at the Professor Seyfried interview done by Jimmy Dore in the posts above.

Not only possible, but true.

I don’t have any of those

You quoted “Him.”

Just one of the tricks end-stage capitalism plays on people.
