Arctic Musk Ox Burgers

i was at brentwood mall in burnaby yesterday and scored some arctic musk ox and kangaroo burgers at the meat shop beside the kin’s farm market. this stuff is killer. i’d pay for it everyday if it wasn’t for the beef priced buffalo at the IGA.

for those in the area, give it a go for something a little different. i mean, how often do you get to eat arctic musk ox or kangaroo (unless you live in oz).

I haven’t tried the musk ox, but I think wallaby steaks wrapped in platypus bacon beat the pants off the kangaroo meat any day.

You get all the good shit up there. I love wild game of any kind and am one one of those guys who’ll damn near anything.

Yo man, I live in Burnaby, and I’m gonna have to check that out one of these days for sure.

I haven’t tried Musk Ox but I got a selection of African game form these guys (UK only, sorry):

Impala tastes incredible as does Springbok (it tastes like a cross between beef and liver). I wasn’t so keen on Zebra though, that might be because it doesn’t hold up too well to being cooked rare.

It was actually Tim Phoenix’s talk of eating lion meat that sparked my curiosity to check ‘alternative meat’ out.

jared diamond talks of lion burgers in guns, germs and steel. apparently they are quite tasty.

Yeah, that book is a must-read if you haven’t already.
