AquaCruzer's Training Log

Week 1, Day 3
Saturday 4/14/12

2" Deficit pull
4x315 @7
4x335 @8 —> barely an 8
4x355 @8
4x365 @8
4x365 @8 —> a bit harder than the previous set
4x335 @8
4x335 @8.5

Overall pulls felt good, although form got a little ugly near the end.

Military press
6x135 @7
6x155 @8
6x155 @8
6x155 @9

Snatch grip pull
3x10x225

Focusing on spreading the floor and pushing the knees out made my glutes burn.

I’m thinking of just doing some SSB DLs instead of the snatch grip pulls b/c they suck a lot more.

What are Illegal Wides?

@Dlouda: Illegal Wides is just a bench press with a very wide grip. It’s called what it is because you aren’t allowed to use a grip that wide in competition.

@Aqua: All these super serious links are giving me bad conscience about my effort this semester lol.
And could you please film your DL setup from behind next? kthxbye

Ah, gotcha, thanks for clearing that up.

@samoth: I’ll try and get a vid for you when I pull next.

Week 1, Day 1
Monday 4/23/12

CGBP
1x5x205
3x5x215
2x3x230

The sets w/ 215 felt harder than they should’ve, but the sets w/ 230 felt pretty good.

4" Block pull
3x5x295

Pendlay rows
Band pull aparts
Curls

I’m doing SSB Paused Squats. Not pleasant.

Where u been?

Not pleasant, but awesome.

I’ve been busy. Recently got into a research group, so I’ve been trying to juggle that into my schedule. Thankfully I’ve got a better handle on that now and just need to last for one more month until summer.

Week 1, Day 2
Wednesday 4/25/12

Oly squat
1x5x235
3x5x255
2x3x275

Felt good. I was expecting form to be all over the place.

Illegal wides
3x5x185

Ez, but I’ll stay the course.

Ab wheel
SSB lunges

I can already tell that the higher rep assistance stuff is going to feel like a chore.

Week 1, Day 3
Thursday 4/25/12

Military press
1x5x135
3x5x145
2x3x155

Front squat
3x5x205

Quads were a bit sore, plus these felt a tad awkward. Must be tight calves.

Wide grip BTN press
Shrugs
Curls

Hi.

Keep being stronger.

3x5x295
2x3x315

Push press
3x5x160

Snatch grip pull —> these turned into snatch grip RDLs which seemed to do the trick
Ab wheel

Great. I need some new material for my pay-site AquaCruzerAssVids.org!
You don’t need to get a vid, it was just a failed joke.

I see you haven’t written down RPE’s for the last week. Are you done with that or just busy?

Hahaha. I totally forgot to record some pulls for you. I definitely get on that.

I’m not necessarily done with RPEs. I’ll most likely go back to them. I’m just trying something new, that doesn’t require much thinking.

I’ve been using snatch grip deads for a few sessions now. I like them. Your thoughts?

You don’t need to record something for me. I was just amazed at the amount of “sticking out the ass” that was going on haha.
Not thinking is the best sometimes. From your links it seems like you do plenty of thinking during your studies so keeping it easy in the gym might be a good break.

I like them too. I like that I can really push my knees out on them are create some torque which loads my posterior chain quite well. Plus the snatch grip seems to really hit my back. In fact, my upper back is kinda sore, despite using relatively light-ish weights on them yesterday.

Care to expand on the “sticking out the ass” thing haha. I’d like to think I at least try to make a conscious effort to drop my hips a bit prior to pulling in order to prevent stiff legging and to get some leg drive going.

Yeah, I definitely feel like I need a little break from thinking. But I do love me some nerdtastic thinking in general. That probably explains my appeal to RPEs.

I’m talking about the part before you get down and grab the bar. I simply thought it looked funny and tried to make a joke about it. Obviously I failed horribly.

I feel you on the backside concerns of the snatch deads. I worked up to mid 3’s with it for a few sets and my hamstrings were dead the next day. My back was fine, but I think that’s just cause my back is too strong for the rest of me

Must be nice being so big and strong…
