But there is more to it than heaving weight over head and squatting…I think my grip on the bar was too narrow on the bar, and I didn’t keep the bar back far enough…

Great video! But I’m a bit confused about his advice to look down rather than up… wouldn’t that make it harder for you to keep your chest up?

This week has been all about just getting to do the gym and moving…Starting Monday the REAL work begins…been indulging in some carbs as well, cause they go bye bye starting Monday as well! :frowning: (as part of the challenge) Probably can’t say anymore than that :wink:

…I was thinking too, I hope my progress shows through pics more than on the scale…There is a contestant who is 200+ lbs with high bf% so her progress will probably show more on the scale…I hope this is fair and not because so and so knows X amount of people who got them to vote, yanno?

All I can do is put my heart into it, and do my best…

Here is a vid today…messsing around, checking form…I can see how 70lbs may feel different by keeping the bar over the shoulder blades, instead of my head, which is what I think I was doing :slight_smile:

those looked good- OH squats seem to make understanding the mechanics of the squat easy- if you do it wrong
you cant really do them.
you have to keep tight and have great posture
keeps you pushing the knees out
forces you to initiate the movement at the glute/hip vs knee

and somehow because your very tight and have good posture depth is easy.

they are my number one tool to see where I am at.
I do them every lower body training session, before I squat or pull
If I’m lucky its twice a week.

they let me know right away where I am tight- if my hips are loose enough,
or my ankles tight, or my p-chain too banged up.

I’m good for 185x4 I think I can get 225x1 soon.
I try to get 95x10,95x20 or 135x10 everytime I squat or pull.

I’ve been lurking a bit. I’ve managed to lose some motivation though so thought I’d be a little more active on here. I’m thinking of starting to log in combat sports again. First I’m going to catch up on your log, there’s a lot in here!

Random: I did a program from PN that included oh lunges as warmups, and remember liking them a lot! I’ll follow suit and do these as warmups before squats, and possibly cleans before DL’s? Solid base for o-lifts, right?

Made it to the gym…did my own little circuit thing…

3x10 of everything

Front squats(bar)
walking lunges holding the bar in front(awesome!)
barbell pushups
close grip rows

and some leg curls

Got the idea of the push ups from one of Charles Staley’s videos…Abs are sore from yesterday, and I didn’t even work them! Think its a combo from the OH squats, pushups, and 1 arm chest db presses I did :wink: This weekend will be spent chillin, waiting for Monday to come to finally begin this challenge!! So excited…

So today has been awesome :roll:

My husband found out that there are 9 more billets to go overseas that have popped up…he’s fairly certain that he’s already in the top 10 by now :thud: what happens when you go on shore duty, is that you get thrown into this lottery of people needed as requested…it could be anywhere from Iraq, to Git-mo(Cuba) The duty is for 1 freaking YEAR!! craziness…so we’ve had that hanging over our heads for as long as we’ve been living here…and he keeps inching closer and closer…it SUCKS! :< :frowning:

And then the school nurse called to inform us that Coby has strep and a fever of 108…108!!! I was freaking out…but it was 100.8…just the nurse talking too fast and my hubby not listening well…I figured at 108, they’d be rushing him in an ambulance!

And now, Im starting to feel run down, and I have a white crap on my tonsils…awesome.

I’d worry the bar would roll in that position. Maybe stabilizing it is part of the exercise?

Sorry about the strep. My daughter just got diagnosed with it today as well. Get yourself well.
