Anything's Possible

How much are looking to get rid of Cal?

Did you get my PM?

For a cat 2(which Im assuming you are) 1 round of RFL can last 2-6 weeks, you then take a two week break and start again…or not.

Its not about expending energy…the diet takes care of losing fat, even if you just choose to do nothing…as far as 5/3/1 and RFL, ehh, not sure about that…if anything you would maintain the lifts.

If I were you, I’d go another cycle of 5/3/1(diet the same), or give a full round(about 4 weeks) of the RFL a shot and see what you think!(minus 5/3/1)

Just my two cents… couldn’t you do 5/3/1 without an ā€œall outā€ set at the end of your main movement and keep your accessory work to a lower volume? (Maybe 2 exercises for 3-4 sets of 6-10?) That’s basically an upper/lower split and you are lifting heavy enough to maintain muscle mass… without doing too much volume (as we know that doing too much volume on a very restricted diet can lead to muscle loss). Then you could use your 2 mile walks to and from work as your NEPA… Just a thought =D

ya, something like that…

I wouldn’t go all out on the accessory stuff, but you want to lift enough to maintain what you got…

My two cents, is that since 5/3/1 is a strength program, why bother while on a cut?

The cals are loooow on the RFL, fwiw…and tbh, a lot of people feel like shit, LOL!

…I’d save 5/3/1 for when you can get your grub on!

oh hey Molly!

Yup, that’s my current dilemma. March might be a good time for it - I’ll see how things progress. I am on holiday in June - no beaches but I’d like to look decent in my holiday photos all the same.

I was going to start in March too.

Hey Cal, arent coming down this way during that time?

Yes in fact, I’ll be at Six Flags America on one of the days and also Busch Gardens and King’s Dominon which aren’t too far from you. It’s a coach tour so I don’t think I can make side trips. I’m hooking up with a couple of friends who also live in Maryland but they’re coaster geeks like me and will be following part of the tour, though I don’t think they’re doing Six Flags America as they don’t like it. If you fancied popping over there for a few hours, let me know.

Intervals, planks and a new client, Oh MY!

I have another orientation this afternoon with her friend…my new client was already telling her friend how fun I am

I have a number of friends bodybuilders, figure girls who have used 5. 3 1 to get ready for a show. With the adjustments Molly noted and some added beach work. It is a great way to keep size and strength and muscle.

I have had a number of
friends hit pr’s while dieting …

No matter what program you choose diet is the most important (controlling insulin)
make sure u have some part of your program that focues on strength. Or
you will find yourself loosing some
muscle

Good luck with your client!

Thanks, I had an orientation with her friend just a bit ago, and I’ll be training them both on Thursday evenings! happy dance

Hey Jim! Ya, dieting and doing a strength program is doable…but the diet we are talking about is the one by Lyle M.(rapid fat loss) Extreme to say the least!

How bout I try it out and report back?

And I really liked this article! (for the rest of you trainers out there)

especially about finding the trigger point…it made me realize that I talk too much about what is important to ME, and I need to start talking more about what is important to THEM!
I need to find the right words, when they have goals of getting ā€˜toned’ arms…

And I just realized something…not many dudes fill out the orientation forms…I think it would be fun to train the men folk as well tho. There certainly not worried about getting ā€˜too bulky.’

Hey MIM! Congats on the new client. If you work it, I know that you can find the right pitch to sell your awesomeness.

Thanks Kim- it’s coming along!

Having a conversation with myself to go or not go to the gym…daughter was up crying for me every 2 hours last night…for no good reason as far as I could tell…

I think going to the gym wins! Busy week ahead…eek, and my final for my next to last class is due on Sunday…I haven’t even looked to see what it is!! :open_mouth: Typical of me tho…guess I better get on that.

Thanks for all the input re: diet and lifting. I love having an arsenal of information.

More clients - yeah girl! Its great to see the process you’re going through when working with your clients. Keep us posted!

Thanks for me getting me to the next page…it was depressing to see that I am ā€˜wrong x9000,’ every time I wanted to post something…

Pretty good training, considering I had to talk myself into going and considering I didnt sleep much last night.

I’m hungry.

Good on you for going when you didn’t feel like it. You’re on deload week as well aren’t you?

nope, this is my 3rd week!
