fabulous news!

THanks Deja!
Now only if the 30+ people I’ve called in the last 2 weeks would call me back…grumble

Our Biggest Loser Kick off is the 30th…hopefully that will bring some interest, or at least get me more exposure.

Daughter is done with preschool in May for the summer…I’m giving it til fall for the PT’ing to pick up, while keeping my eye out for a job elsewhere…

Or possibly going back to school…not sure. Mama needs some $$$$$

oh ya…posting my meals every once in awhile don’t hurt!

cottage chz
carrots
1 tbsp npb with a dab of honey…mmm
2 flax caps, multi, etc

ckn, zuchinni, mushroom, tomato thing
with acorn squash on the side

Snack- pear/almonds

Dinner- hamburger stew(carrots, green beans, tomatos, yum!)

Nice MPs! How’d you like those prisoner squats? Good stuff right?

Yay on the client! And I’m sure you’ll get more when the challenge starts.

mmm…hamburger stew, sounds delicious. How’s the family doing with the good eats situ? Have the kids even noticed?

fanstastic pull ups!! that is a total goal of mine as well, badass work!!

We(they) mostly eat clean…basically just replacing the snacky type things with healthier versions…my oldest can be picky, but he has learned pretty quickly that if he is hungry enough he will eat it!

I had fun training my new person tonight! She is so totally enveloped in the ‘bulky,’ stereotype and has a hard time understanding what/why we are doing what we are!(lifting) She’d be perfectly happy spending all her time on the elliptical and doing bicep curls every once in awhile… but she chose to work with me to try and change, and Im more than happy to help!

Thought I’d send her some links about why women should lift, etc…do any of you have faves from when you first started? Sometimes, it doesn’t matter what or how much you say to person, but they have to see for themselves.

Its weird…I never thought that way one bit…I remember having my free session with a trainer at Bally’s(ten years ago, YIKES!) and remembering how awesome she looked…I do believe she competed in bb’ing…The first time I picked up a weight, even though it was probably 5-10lbs, I was hooked!

Way to go mominmd, maybe what you could do is show her some pictures of jamie eason or similar and then show her the types of workouts she does to stay fit. I think something like that could help you convince the gal that weight training is where it’s at. Of course she chose you, maybe you could just tell her your story and how you went about changing yourself, i have found that people really relate more to what you have done, and not necessarily what other’s have done.

Also about training, obviously word of mouth is the best type of publicity, but think about your brand, what kind of training do you want to be known for. Are you going for transformation specialist, fat loss, strength and hypertrophy and etc. Being knowledgable in all facets is what you really want, but having something that sets you apart from others, may be something to look at. Some food for thought that might help.

Hmmmm hamburger stew/soup, i have been looking for more ways to eat my burger, perhaps i shall give that a go.

MIM, got one for ya!

G’nite!

dang, MIM. sooo much to read here if i leave ya for a minute. your videos and all the feedback are awesome help for me. i’m not sure if i missed in the ebook about how long one should run 5/3/1. like arachne, i wasn’t planning on any longer than 2 cycles, maybe 3, because like you, i gotts to get cutting too.

i think even for short term, it’s a helluva program and can only benefit us. it is fun and gives me a set plan to follow. i don’t think there is anything wrong with using it to improve these 4 important lifts, while maybe not focusing sooo much on increasing weight (for us, right now?)

i’m so glad you had fun with your new girl. i will have to take a look in my mounds of fitness/lifting stuff to see if something might be of use for you.

Transformation specialist…I like that!

You make some good points Heracles and I appreciate that. I need more time and opportunity to develop my ‘brand.’ I hear what you are saying tho.

Most people that I have orientations with are overweight, but they want to ‘tone.’ My job first is to help change there thinking, and help them discover the reasons that got them here…it can’t happen in one orientation tho! I need to be given more opportunities to show how awesome I know I can be!

It drives me insane, that most ‘want to do it on there own for awhile.’ really? grrrrr…

The hamburger stoup is a fave around here…I add red potatos, or brown rice to thicken it up a bit…other meals that are good, are thai ground beef or hamburger surprise! (mashed potatos, mixed veggies and hamburger) All pwo for me of course

No gym this morning…my allergy appt is today…is it geeky of me to be excited?

Wrong x 9000. Your job is to help them change their physique. Not to be a friend, or a therapist, or to alter the way they think.

“There are lots of different ways to get to where you want to be, and almost every person you ask will have an opinion. I’d like to get you there without injuring your metabolism or your body. It’s definitely possible, and it can be fun at the same time.”

when they SEE themselves change in the mirror and feel themselves change from the inside out, they’ll change their mind.

As soon as you say that one of their ideas is wrong, they’ll feel invalidated and thats bad, esp for a luxury like personal trainers. if you say that your way is safer, or more effective, that’s an easy out.

wrong. you have an hour to tell them how awesome they already are, and how unstoppable they’ll be after training with you.

asskissing, asskissing, asskissing…

cbear is actually right on this one.

i used to get excited for my allergy shots as a kid too :stuck_out_tongue:

allergies are f#ckin annoying, i think the fact that allergist/allergy shots help give the ol’ Pavlovian effect :stuck_out_tongue:

Internet took a crap on us for no good reason at all…

I’m not allergic to anything, apparently…they did this test where they mark your mark with a bunch of reactants…

ass kissing? not my strong point.

Mine either. If you’ve never read Dale Carnegie’s How to Win Friends and Influence People, I highly recommend it.

Just don’t get it confused with How to Lose Friends and Alienate People.

Quick question for MiM - I know you did Rapid Fat Loss - do you recommend it? (I got so-so results on the Velocity Diet but found it convenient in terms of being able to work out calories etc).

I’d only recommend it to those that already have solid eating habits, no history of binging, that sort of thing…

For me,I was tired of the slow and steady approach…tired of being tired of being tired…

I recommend this approach only if you’ve honestly given the slow and steady method an honest try…or if you mean business and just want the fat to go bye bye, ‘rapidly.’ To just get it over with!

I think you’d appreciate chewing your food, instead of drinking it…and you get a free meal + a refeed, once a week…the results you get are almost instant and good for the motivation. The only downside is that you have to cut your training way back…but may be good for all the rehabbing you are having to do anyway?

I’m going back on soon.

Hmm…interesting. I want to cut in the last stage of my program…

I’ve read about the V-diet. With the rapid weight loss, you can’t lift at all?

I was going to post a question, but so as not to hijack - i’m posting in my own log

feel free to ask any question(s) you want about it!

What I meant about the training, is that you do what is recommended, which is 2-3 training sessions…either an upper/lower split or total body…you are lifting to maintain muscle mass…cardio isn’t even recommended, but you can go on a few 20-30 minute walks/week if you want…and possibly 20m ss after lifting…

Cardio isn’t recommend on V either but you are supposed to do some sort of NEPA (non exercise physical activity) every day - so my 2 mile walk to and from work would fit in with that. Still, I’m wondering how RFL would fit in with 5/3/1. To be honest, I don’t feel like I’m expending much energy on 5/3/1 (I don’t really sweat unless I throw some metabolic stuff or supersets in afterwards) even though I am lifting quite heavy.
Having said that, I’m fed up with my fat - even by cutting out all starchy carbs and sugar I only seem to shift a pound a week. And I don’t want to be dieting for 10 or 15 weeks - I have fairly low tolerance for dieting and if it goes on too long I go off the rails. That’s why I’m asking, really.
