My 2 cents on the fasting: it will probably screw up your lifting and energy levels maybe even ruin your sleep. I agree with feeling a little hunger between meals - I personally don’t eat every 2 hours, I eat 3 meals and 1-2 snacks. No eating for days on end…not sure. But hell, I’ve never done it so I’m no judge.
I’m glad you decided to stick with your original program. Its only three weeks more, and then you can truly say you gave the diet everything you had.

I think it depends how you do the intermittant fasting. I tried not eating during the day and just eating when I got home. I put on 10lbs of fat (wasn’t eating junk) and had to do the V-Diet to lose it again. I was cold a lot - sign of a slowed metabolism, and despite not eating crap I probably overate in the evening. Apparently sumo wrestlers eat this way - a big meal before bed - so it’s no wonder I got fat on it.
Now I suspect I’d do better if I fasted in the evening, but that’s the only chance I get each day to cook something decent, so to be honest, I’ve not tried it again.[/quote]
Cal, I think this is really interesting. I’ve always grazed on tiny meals but when I started training hard for blackbelt, I ate constantly during the day, but stopped evening eating and snacking on carbs (goldfish and cheez-its to be exact) and I lost about 3% bodyfat - (leaving me at 3% haha just kidding).
I’m pretty sure timing is important.
Theres lots of interesting info about it out there! But I won’t bore you all about it, was just curious ![]()
Personally I did it on non-training days…I’d extend the fast until 1 or 2pm…ate a normal lunch and a normal dinner…
I think the trick is(at least for me) is to still keep meals portioned the same…
Just another way to restrict calories, while eating normally on your other days.
Not going to weigh myself until Monday…I like surprises! ![]()
Kim- I know I’ve been giving it all I have! But sometimes you run out, lol… My first round was 9 weeks, so I know I can tough this out…
Sucky news on the job front…they don’t need anyone else to work the front desk at the gym…So I need to start looking elsewhere…It sucks because I don’t want to work full time, because I want to be as available as possible to my future clients…but I need money!!
It would be nice to have a job again that at least matched the hubbys paycheck…life would be a lot less stressful…Maybe I should have stayed in the Navy too!
I dont even know where to look for jobs anymore, lol…do people still look at the paper? Or is everything online now? The kind of funny thing is, is that I’ve spent over a year earning this degree and I dont even know what to do with it!!
It seems like its more for people that actually want to manage sports teams…which I dont…sometimes I think I should just go back to school for Nursing…guaranteed job there! But Ive already got $$$ MUCHO $$$ student loans added up as it is…
Bah humbug ![]()
I’m alive!
Don’t know if it was on my end or t-nations, but I couldn’t log in at all yesterday! ![]()
glad to hear you are above ground and vertical, MIM. that happened to me recently but i think it was my work computer’s network.
sorry about the news on your job. what is your degree going to be in? (sorry, don’t remember 'xactly) crap job hunting is hard. i spent almost 15 yrs in grocery before busting out to my current career. long SS, i started in highschool and worked my way through college. (lots of work, so it took me quite a while to finish school) when i was done, i was in upper management and the science jobs pay couldn’t touch what i was making and it was impossible to get my foot in the door. (was trying for university or state agency) so figured i stick on the management track. it was (still is) an independent & very successful N CA chain, so it was a good gig, but grocery started going down the shitter in a hurry.
by this time i had been out of school for several years and that was an issue. so i took a couple online one day courses to get familiar with biopharma, good manufacturing practices, industry stuff and volunteered in a lab at UCD. only took a month of volunteering and with that new stuff to put on my resume, i was lucky enough to land a temp job. got lucky again and they hired me and a couple others permanent. it will be 5 yrs in march…hard to believe.
so much is internet driven, but i’m sure the paper is still a source of job info. is monster.com still around? check out the online sources where you post your resume. good luck!
Thanks Tal-
I’ll have my degree in Sports Management in Feb…it sounded good at least…
A few years back I was set to go through radiology tech school, but I chickened out…and we moved. Im kind of kicking myself now…maybe it wasn’t what i REALLY wanted to do, but at least it would be a respectable, steady job that I can take with me anywhere…A physical therapy assistant has also been an interest…I’ve already got the junk courses out of the way(two semesters of anatomy and physiology!! + labs!!) I’m so thankful!
Personal Training is what I really want to do, but relying on other people to agree its what they want is kind of a hard way to make money!! Sometimes I think I would do better behind the scenes, like as an assistant manager or director of whatever…
I have two years left of the military’s money to use up…I’ll be investigating other opportunities! But really, I just WANT TO BE DONE WITH SCHOOL!! I started way back in fall of 2004!
Today is a controlled ‘free day.’ typically Fridays are my refeeds, but I’m taking it down a notch by allowing the things that I’ve been wanting through the week…
For example I had a banana with PB with my cottage cheese for breakfast
And for lunch Im having chicken with BBQ sauce, corn and Mashed potatos!!
the hubby is on his way home(been gone all week) so I think some Chinese is also in my future!

I should give the degree Im about to get a chance and try do something with it…if anything it wouldn’t be until next fall that I would start! I guess Im feeling the pressure cause I only have til 2012 to use up the rest of my military monies!
I made a ridiculously good treat earlier…wanted to make rice crispy treats, but didn’t have enough of everything to make a whole batch…sooo, I melted a tablespoon of butter and about a 1/2 cup marsh mellows and stirred in about 3/4 cup rice crispiest…
Im a genius.

damn! Those are big dbs. ![]()
That is a bummer about the job situation. Can you still train clients at that gym?
And, Spider is right…you are pressing and rowing some big dumbbells. Awesome!
Yep, big indeed.
When you do the incline db press, do you get 'em up yourself or have someone hand them to you? My main sticking point with these (other than the fact I generally don’t do them as a main exercise - rather, as an accessory to flat bench) is that I train alone, usually at times when the gym is quiet, so I’m getting them up there myself. Given my history of shoulder problems I have to be a bit cautious.
I have the same issue, mostly. My trick is to hoist them while standing (you can clean more than you can curl.)
Nice lifting; sorry about the job stuff.
I can get the 50s up on my first and second sets alone…I’ve tried for a 3rd and I fail. Either just completely exhausted the muscle or not resting long enough…if I cant get the 3rd set I usually hope over to the incline bb to finish
It’s harder on the incline, but the flat db press is a bit easier, since you use at least one leg to get the one db up for momentum, etc…does that make sense?
Today was pretty much a bust…watched xmas movies and snacked on popcorn all day…I did go in this morning to train my one client and I had an orientation that went well.
Can yesterday be a do-over?
I OD’d on one too many crunchy hard tacos, mmm…The hardest part of this diet is the weekends!! The hubby wakes up and makes this huge breakfast, pulls out the snacks for football, and then theres dinner that has to agree with everyone…most time I end up munching on my chicken alone.
Back to the drawing board…gotta make some magic happen here!!
I’m pretty burnt out with this diet. Only 13 more days left though to see if I can get to 180.
Haven’t weighed myself since the middle of last week…gonna wait til WED to make sure all the water from this weekends goodies are gone…

I submitted my application of enrollment to school! Im nervous now! :}
I didn’t weigh myself, but my omron body fat thing is saying I am at 25%…I was 26% last week…hoping that means I’ll get a nice surprise on the scale tomorrow!
The hubby may have to go out of town again next week…
but that will make finishing up this diet easier…
I may go train this morning, since I have a client tomorrow am(630!) would be pain to go there, come home, get kids ready for school, and then go back to train, whew.
Just wanted to pop and say Keep it up! the fact that your keeping up everything despite the job issues shows some good amount determination.
