Anyone with Acne Pre-TRT? Any Remedies While on TRT?

I searched this for a while and only found guys with acne after starting trt. I am an extremely rare case when comes to acne. I have been on it all and have developed health issues or sensitivities to ALL acne otc and prescription treatments except for topical benzoyl peroxide. Without it I have moderate-severe acne, with the benzoyl peroxide it is mild-moderate. There’s literally no more otc or dermatologist options for me.

I am pre-trt. I was on trt for a very short time a few years ago but had to stop due to severe breakouts. I was injecting ED or EOD. My main thread on myself is https://t-nation.com/t/r03-progress-thread/262839

Are there any trt/hormone protocols out there other than injecting ED to help acne? Any labs to get that might help solve my situation? Thanks guys.

You’ve tried accutane?

Yes in 2003-4. 2 courses. It had very little effect on my acne and I’m one of the lucky ones with permanent side effects. It’s extremely toxic stuff, should be banned in my opinion. Or at least prescribed WAY less than it is currently. I mentioned it in my main thread.

Agreed. It’s up there with finasteride to me.

Vitamin A, Selenium and Zinc clear up my skin nicely. Zinc ointment is also good.

Same here although no accutane, VA will not prescribe. Have had acne entire life on my entire body.

When I started TRT there was a brief moment when acne was improved greatly and then it was worse, by a lot.

Long story short I have a very hard time controlling E2, when I’m in the sweet spot acne damn near disappears.

When you say all of it, are you mostly talking about oral pills? I have had good results with Differin topical. Some of the Salicylic acid stuff can work too.

You might need to increase frequency of application. I like the Differin because it does not dry me out.

That’s interesting that it disappears, that’s what I’m most interested in, whatever hormonal ways to help it if any.

I refuse to touch any retinoids after the serious issues post accutane. Also since accutane did not work for me, idk how effective a topical retinoid would be. I refuse to be anywhere near retinoids though.

I did a strict salicylic acid and exfoliation regimen recently actually and it had zero effect.

I’m glad differin works for you though. I prob would try it if I never took accutane.

I did try dapsone topical a while ago and it worked amazing the few days I tried it. I had to quit because I was getting some of the same allergy symptoms that I got from when I was on the oral antibiotic called bactrim. I guess they are related. They both were the biggest help but I developed an allergy to bactrim. It’s my only real allergy to anything.
