T Replacement and Acne

Been on testosterone therapy for about a year now, and for the first 6 months I had NO PROBLEMS at all. But for the last 4-5 months I’ve been getting these awful cystic acne on my neck. I’ve taken arimidex and nolvadex, but they don’t seem to help whatsoever. Is there any other product or something to rid this? I’ve started tanning, and got an acne body wash for my neck. Neither seem to make a difference. My estrogen levels were at 69, so I figured maybe that was the cause but now my levels are at 19. I get 200mg a week, and I’ve gone from injecting once to twice a week in hoping that more stable levels would help but it doesn’t make a difference. I’m not currently taking arimidex or nolvadex because they dont seem to make a difference. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’ve looked at aromasin and letro, thoughts on the two?

I’m having a problem with this too, though it is manageable (my g/f actually likes popping my zits…its weird)

Accutane is a possible option, but educate yourself on the side effects.

There are some threads in the steroids section about this too…high power body wash, changing sheets regularly, frequent showers are all methods I’ve seen. Tanning helps too with some.

My wife loves popping mine too. I think she’s a sadist
My acne since on T replacement has come and gone in waves…

Yeah I have it on my shoulders and back since starting TRT.

When I started HRT, I was paranoid that I would lose my hair, later I figured out that the dose I take
wouldn’t make me lose it (as well as other hereditary factors). In reading this site, I found that a shampoo called Nizoral was effective at cleaning your hair follicles of excess DHT (the stuff that kills them and causes baldness)…Anyway, the active ingredient is called ketoconozole. Its some evil shit, and is used for tough fungal infections, but it has a side effect of working on stubborn acne, especially the deep cyst kind.
They do not sell the 2% formulation in the US any more, but you can order it on Amazon and get it in a week or so from overseas. It seems to work for me when I get a breakout on my back or neck (I am 43) so I know its T related when it happens.
My wife also has a prescription for a gel called Tazorac, it really dries out and gets a larger one or a cyst
under control. Never tried accutane, but I thought there was some litigation involving that stuff ?
Anyway, good luck.

+1 on Strangemeadow… my wife like to pop them and is a sadist.

Who the hell pops zits with finger nails and not the pads of their fingers? How sick is that??

I’ll look into that stuff, thanks for the advice. Definitely want to stay away from the accutane.

Seriously, you’d think these women never had acne before! Why they think that the nails are the right tool for the job, I don’t know.

I have had really bad acne on my back since starting TRT. I went on vacation last week and one night I decided to go to the hot-tub for a while after a long day. I was so tired when I got back to my room that I decided to opt-out of taking a shower, and instead take one in the morning.

The next morning, at least HALF of my acne was gone. I was flipping out since nothing has worked since I started having acne issues. I did the same thing the next night and even more of the acne went away. Now that I’m back home I’m looking for a highly-chlorinated body of water to soak in.

I’ve tried (with no success) three types of antibiotics, salisylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, sea-salt baths, scrubbing like a madman, and swearing. Chlorine seems to be the only thing that puts a dent in the numbers so far.

Yep! Same here… Got a wife and daughter that love to nail them… Just a small price to pay

when my doc put me on twice a month injects due to a mistake i made, the acne was bad i was having the size
quarter for zits. so i brought my paper work to show what i was doing, he let me go back to twice weekly
injects and about 13 wks later (now my acne has cleared 80%) and getting better. i do suggest to watch fat intake for a little while and see if that helps, even better eat more good fats… bad fats (for me anyways)
can have some effect. so i’m trying to watch it better. mabe this might help

I started getting acne on my back after starting TRT. My doc put me on 2 ea. 160mg SawPalemetto capsules daily and it seems to work. Haven had any real problems with acne for the last two years.
