Anyone Watching The Shield?

I knew the kid was going to kill his mother and somehow pin it on Dutch, but no ending to that? Not sure why, I think they gave us some clues to show that we know Ditch will catch the killer.

Claudette said that it was an emotional killing and it will all come out eventually. So they know he killed her and he will spill it in time, just not on camera.

I loved the ending. It happened the only way it could happen. Vic lost everything he ever cared about and ended up in living Hell. Shane may have died, and Ronnie may be Antoine Mitchell’s cell mate, but Vic got the worst of it. His comeuppance is knowing that he’s responsible for all of the pain and suffering that took place. He’s responsible for losing his family, Ronnie’s prison sentence, Lem’s death, Shane’s death, etc.

He doesn’t have a friend to turn to, a family to go home to, or a job to bury himself in. He has nothing, and it’s all his own fault.

I think the last scene showed Vic about to go moonlighting as a vigilante. Basically saying that you can take Vic outta the streets but you can’t take the streets outta Vic. I don’t think he’s running anywhere. Not his style. He’s the kinda guy that wants to beat the system, not escape from it. Running would be admitting defeat, and Vic doesn’t lose, ever.

2 minor nitpicks though: I thought the whole Andre 3000-pastor-mayor thing was totally unnecessary. I thought the did a good job, given the context it just felt out of place.

To me, that was their way of showing us that the more things change, the more they stay the same. The Strike Team may have made a ton of arrests, but they didn’t even make a dent. The problem isn’t catching criminals. The problem is creating criminals. That’s what Dre’s campaign was about (sorta), and he was killed. Irony.

I think they threw Andre3000 in there fo a couple of reasons… they’ve been trying to tie up lose characters this season (how many of us forgot about tavon?) and also, if you recall how his character started out as a comic shop owner who was trying to fight the coruption, this shows how far he was wiling to go,… and how ultimately, it ended up.

All in all, I think they did a good job in closing the show, at least it wasn’t some Soprano bullshit, fade to black.

I guess Vic can still go buddy up with Carl Weathers.
