wouldnt be learning but yes surfing will definitely part of the beach days
This friend female or male? Are they local to SD?
The zoo is pretty cool and they have made a few improvements to it. If you go definitely take the gondola.
It depends on what it is you want to do. Are you looking to party? If so then the Gaslamp is probably your best bet although it’s the most touristy (I don’t really care for it simply because of the tourists and the bumpkins from Chula Vista, etc). But it’s definitely worth a trip to just for the people watching.
I would spend time in Balboa Park (it’s where the Zoo is situated) as there are a lot of cool things to do and see there. There’s a great aerospace museum and auto museum that sometimes get forgotten about. There are a ton of trails and just lots or areas to walk around.
The Padres are playing this weekend and that’s worth checking out too. I’m a fan of Petco park simply because it’s so convenient to get to. So if you took in a game you could then go out immediately following the game and you’re right there in Gaslamp. There’s also a great pizza place called Basic. It’s thin crust and really tasty. http://www.barbasic.com/
There’s a cool bowling alley also in that area. http://bowlevt.com/ and it’s worth checking out too.
I would check out Little Italy while you’re in town as there’s some cool places to eat and drink there too. I would stay away from the pub unless it’s changed ownership as the service sucks.
We are supposed to have cool weather this week but the beach is always a safe bet. Coronado is definitely worth checking out and you can even take the ferry over. But if you’re a couple of single guys then Pacific Beach is a much better bet for you.
Sorry for the inundation of info. Keep in mind that I’m 40’s and married so my ideas of what to do might be different. But I live or lived in the busy areas of town (East Village, Little Italy, now Mission Hills) so I still am able to keep up a bit with what’s going on.

One of us watches too many movies…
Atypical hits the mark here. San Diego is a fun place to visit and he’s mapped out a pretty fun weekend that will keep you from having to drive too much if at all.
One thing is for sure, stay the motherfuck out of Mexico.
You don’t have any business going there and if you go during the day just to “shop” you’ll only get bummed out. Go to Old Town if you have to get some touristy Mexican stuff.
Have a blast man.
its guy i grew up with that im going to visit… he’s a VIP manager at several clubs in SD and vegas… im sure we’ll have a blast.

Judging by his avatar, I think Viernes might be able to answer this question.

But I do know that Milk is a bad choice.
I love lamp.

You should have visited 24 Hour Fitness in Hillcrest. That’s “shock fitness” without even going to Shock Fitness.

DUDE! I actually worked out there a couple times with my wife. It was horrible. I’ve never seen this before… but there were MULTIPLE people “working out” in cut off jean shorts. No word of a lie.
The Gym at the Naval Medical Center (not far from Hillcrest) gets a little jean-shorty at times too.
I can only imagine the 24 hour in Hillcrest has a super slippery locker room
I went to San Diego earlier this year for a conference and a local told us to visit Hillcrest…pure evil, you locals! It was hilarious though.
Hillcrest has some pretty good food, to be honest. I stayed in that part of town for roughly 6 months a couple years ago and there definitely were very few dull moments.
