Anyone Listen to AM Talk Radio?

I’ve been a big fan of Dennis Prager and Michael Savage for years. Prager especially has had made a huge impact on my life Not like I’m perfect but I am a better person now because of him. Just wondering what you guys listen to.

I’ve heard little bits of Michael Savage. He seems like a racist asshole and a crazy idiot. Just my opinion.

What does he say that makes you think he is racist?

I won’t deny the asshole or the crazy part - but I like his honesty. PC is not his strong suit.

I used to listen to Savage(not his actual name) all the time.

Now I think he’s a lunatic. He’s often mentioned using nuclear weapons in the ME on his radio show.

I do think it’s funny when he goes off on some tangent labeling callers “Nazis” that piss him off. I’ve heard him say to a caller once (I’m paraphrasing), “I bet you like to dress up in lederhosen and rape little boys…you Nazi!”

He’s good for a laugh I suppose.

Dustin

I used to listen to Gordon Liddy, I do not know if he is even on any more. I know his son is on, but he is not his old man

I listen to Glenn Beck whenever I get the chance.

If you’re a better person from listening to those guys, I’m kinda wondering what kind of person you were before…

Why listen to him on the radio when you can watch him make a fool out of himself on TV every day?

Dustin

Savage is a complete lunatic.

Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity…the antidote for the Left disease that is trying to destroy my country.

Thats not what I said and you are twisting my words around to make an insult. I’m not looking for a debate. I was only referring to Prager. You may not like his politics but I have met him in person he is the kindest and best people out there IMHO. Have you ever listened to his show with an open mind, putting aside your anti-religious views?

I can understand asshole and crazy but I don’t see the racist connection. He has never said anything racist is all the years I’ve listened to him. He has mentioned Nuking Iraq, which I don’t agree with, but his reasons did make sense when compared to the US nuking Japan in WWII. (I do agree with Truman’s decision to do that BTW). That might be considered racist, but given the context of his words I’d disagree. Maybe this is what your talking about? If so OK I see your point, but I have met real racists and in no way does he come close to being like those guys. You don’t know real racists until you’ve met some of the Neo-Nazis out there. ex. American Front, W.A.R. Oh and their web site. Here’s the real deal. http://www.resist.com/

If you look a the definition of rasism,–the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, esp. so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races. ? prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on such a belief.- I guess I could be considered a racist by some for believing black americans are superior to Tibetans at basketball. Perhaps we’re getting lost in semantics. Lots of people have minor prejudice but I would call them a racist. It only decreases the severity of this word.

And why I listen to Savage? I find him very entertaining and I admire his passion, and whit. Oh and I enjoy his stories too.

Right on. Not my favs but anything to save the country.

Funny how flames from Liberals don’t hurt. Guess its because extreme liberalism is a mental disorder, and regular liberals are just misguided. Don’t worry there is a cure. Just listen to Denis Prager until your symptoms subside lol.

I love Glenn Beck. I actually paid for one of those “Michael Moore is Fat” t-shirts.

I’ll admit before Prager my life was questionable. I was a corrupt DEA agent that confiscated billions of dollars worth of narcotics from importers, and selling them on the black market. Things got bad and the heat was on so I switched to working for various individuals as an international assassin. Finally I had killed everyone worth killing when my wife left me and took the house. That bitch spent all the money and I had a gambling problem. I was down and out sleeping on the streets of Stalingrad until on day I heard Prager.

Come on fella’s, at least I try to have sense of humor.

Note: I just turned 40, and to celebrate I am completely lacking in sobriety.

Anyway I used to listen to Savage, but he did piss me off by telling people not to support the victims of the tsunami a few years back. I mostly listened to him because he was funny, especially in the way he pissed off some people. (Apparently I became one of them.) It is best not to take him too seriously. He is a little over the top.

I mostly like listening to the libertarian Bortz. He seems to be the most outside the mainstream, so naturally I seem to like him the most.

I probably agree with him the most out of any of the commentators I have listened to.

Next is Dave Ramsey. Not really a political talk show, but I agree with him quite a bit. His philosophy about money has probably helped me financially more then anyone else.

Why is the room spinning?

Oh yeah, I’m plastered.

Anyway, I do like listening to a variety of people, but I have found I disagree with ever single one of them on some topics. If you agree with somebody 100% of the time, you are nothing but a sheep. If you disagree with somebody 100% of the time, you are a lemming. (Or the other person is a liberal. Ok, not serious here.)

I never listen to a person to validate my opinions, nor to tell me what to think. Instead I actively think about whatever discussion I am listening to and decide on my own what I think. For me it is more about mental activity then anything. (Typing is hard when you are drunk.)

There was a liberal radio talk show broadcast here that I used to listen to on the weekends, but similar to Savage, I was annoyed by his attempt to connect some Hitler quotes to the republican party. Hitler was a BS artist that made Clinton look like an honest man. He would say anything that would promote his agenda and power. Few knew of his hate for Christians, nor his twisted occult beliefs.

I will admit there are too many people who listen to conservative talk radio and do not think for themselves, but it is nothing compared to the liberals who do not think and get there ideas from…(Where the hell do the crazies from the left get their whacked out ideas anyway? The internet?)

A little too often I do hear on conservative talk radio about the terrible atheists destroying society. I realize I may be an anomaly, but logic has brought me to my beliefs, and the same logic has brought me to atheism. (Though nothing against religion, as I have said before most atheists kind of piss me off at their anti-religious fervor. Whereas I find benefits to most aspects of religion. Radical Islam notwithstanding.)

I have found it interesting that to simply disagree with a liberal is to be against freedom of speech, and potentially a bigot, yet to silence a conservative is the “politically correct” thing to do, as if conservative speech is not protected.

Ok, so the intolerant bigot has made you a better person, not the crazy intolerant bigot. I stand corrected.

If you’re a white straight man who unconditionally votes Republican, I’m sure he’s quite nice. Or maybe his host persona is just an act and he really believes in “love thy neighbor” and “judge not.” But I kinda doubt it.

Isn’t that like asking you to listen to his show without bigotry and prejudice?

Please cite some instances of this “bigotry”. Maybe some instances of his “intolerance” while you are at it.

Don’t you find it just a bit lazy to throw out such words just because someone disagrees with the way you have the world constructed in your head?

How do you reconcile the fact that you are not much different than you say he is - yet you get to do all the name calling?

Just wondering.

[quote]rainjack wrote:

Can’t you listen to his show for yourself?

If operating an AM radio is too challenging, just put Dennis Prager in Youtube’s search box and you can see him debating various people during his TV appearances.

I’ll give you that “intolerant bigot” is a bit redundant. Other than that, Prager is not a man who appreciates diversity. He does not demonstrate much tolerance for people who have lifestyles or opinions differing from his own. That’s pretty much the definition of bigot, so using the word doesn’t appear to be lazy. It appears to be descriptive.

The difference is that I don’t call for people to have their freedoms curtailed because I disagree with them (unless they directly impact my life). I will explain why I differ with someone on a certain topic, but I don’t recall ever asking for someone to be censored or banned or anything similar.

I know you prefer to be a kowtowing yes-man who toes the party line and follows the “right” herd and repeats the “right” opinions. If that works for you and makes you feel manly, fine.

Yeah, that’s what the clueless do.
