Yeah, I know the feeling. My I lived in an apartment for 6 months and that was hell cause I had to do all my work in the parking lot and I HAD to finish whatever I started so that no one stole tools or parts laying around. Tools are easy to come by though. A buddy of mine and I tore apart an entire car with a socket set, wrenches, some screw drivers and a handful of specialty tools.
Dropped the engine and trans, pulled the entire turbo system, fuel system, suspension, took the doors off, panels out, took out the seats, AC unit, steering wheel, removed the entire drivetrain. Some of it was a pain in the ass with out proper tools, but we got it done either way. It would’ve been a lot easier with an engine hoist and a engine stand.
Thanks. I know a lot of guys who would rather jimmy-rig some crap together hoping it will hold for a single pass at the track. I cant do that cause like most people, she’s my daily driver too. Which also means, to rebuild the engine and transmission, I have to buy or trade for a second engine/trans to rebuild to new and then swap them out once I’m done. Which could be profitable if I rebuild teh spare ones and sell in the local area.
Alexandria is home. My family moved around a lot when I was younger. Arlington, Springfield, Annandale, Fairfax.
What about you? You have any pictures of that Nova?

That sucks. My wife won’t let me buy a second car like a crap honda or something so I can go ape shit with my SRT. I’m sure if we had a kid, she’d pressure me to sell it. But at least you’re taking care of whats important.
The monte would be sick. If you pull one from a junkyard and restore it, it’ll be cheaper upfront, but you’d have to invest WAY more time in appearance and a lot more money. On the other hand, if you find one in decent condition, it’ll probably need less work, but it’ll be a bit costly upfront.
If you had the resources would you go big block? Thinking about a standard restoration or a restoration + modern modifcations?
From the wreckers, or nearly wrecked since the goal is not just the car itself, but to teach the boy aswell. Body restoration, plus body / frame reinforcements. Modern suspension mods. Big block if I do a Monte. Stroked small block in the Camero. Simplish engines though, nothing overly extreme - Street rod on pump gas not a track car / trailer queen.
Probably shoot for 400 horse out of the small block, or 500 out of the big block. It’ll be another 5 or 6 years before it’s time though. I’m partial to the Monte though. I’ve already got a nice ugly purple metalic picked out for the paint.
ye love my car, changing it constantly. driving a mini cooper s, stuck every john cooper works extra you can imagine on. running close to 240bhp now, which as you can imagine is quite quick for a car the weight of a piece of paper

That’s funny, you just reminded me that when I was working on the Nova with my dad, how we had to finish everything we started that day so no one would steal shit (we did the work in a driveway in Baltimore near where I grew up). I don’t have any pictures of the Nova. My dad might, but I doubt it. I don’t have many pictures growing up. I just moved from Arlington to Vienna so we’re practically neighbors.

That car’s computer systems tell you the moment the tire pressure is a little low. .
Wow, that feature would certainly be useful on my Porsche. I swear I have to measure and adjust the tyre pressures every 2-3 months.

That is the main reason I got it over the Camarro. Though the Camaro has On star, the computer in this talks to me. I freaking LOVE talking on the phone through my car.
Your words, not mine bro.
EDIT: You own a relatively new Mustang…that bitch has a spare in the trunk and a jack stand from the factory…LULz. But you CHOSE to have it towed? ROFL. That makes sense. Based on that “Changing the tired was a bitch” comment you made earlier - its all starting to make sense now.
How fucking old are you? I towed my car in…BECAUSE I CAN. I have the luxury of not paying a dime for that to happen. You know…grown people stuff.
Don’t hate.
Umm…kids have someone else deal with their problems instead of rolling up their sleeves and dealing it with themselves. You sound like someone that paid someone else to deal with your problem - where does that put you?
Angry Chicken - Rant wasn’t addressed to you specifically man. I’m guessing that Chevy Nova was cherry though. I just get upset with people like Professor Derp here who bought a no shit performance car but based his decision on a talking computer?

See? The Prof goes away for little while and then comes back a calmer dude, and this is how we welcome him back? No wonder he always seems so pissy around here.
I’m not that into mods. unless someone else (pro) is doing it. Stuff’s too technical these days and there’s very little room for error. Pics of some of my toys.
just got word back from my car guy. ok, the supercharger is in. but says, when the car is put in gear, it just dies. it came with a tune. so he thinks theres something in the tune not right. any little thing seems to fuck up my car. these new cars are rather sensitive. its not really new an 07, but since i have only 11k miles on it, it still feels new to me.

Does it idle fine? What happens if you leave it in neutral and press the gas? Does it rev or does it cut out?
