Well i don’t think i’ve noticed it before but now it makes sense, whenever i take a week off, im severly depressed and bitchy by the end of it, similar to the way i end up when i overtrain a lot. Does anyone get this way or is it just me?
How much do you mean by OD?

Double the dose.
haha i get this as well. i dont know why. I know i’m resting to recover. but… being a former super fat boy. =/
Inactivity just… kills me. I fiddle around… and cant sit still… i actually feel like i’m doing something bad. You know? like kicking the neighborhood stray cat. Oh wait it shiats on my flip-flops and pees on my car… never mind.
I get that way on consecutive days off. I think lifting releases a chemical response into the body.
I used to get really depressed/lethargic on my off days from work out, usually right after I got out of work. Doing cardio would help a lot. I think it was because I was going low-carb. It went away though…guess my body just adjusted.
i had too take 3 weeks off training the past month, i was crawling the walls
thanks for this thread, i am going through that right now.
i think a lot of us are addicted to the endorphins and other chemicals that are released during our training
no training = no endorphins = sad people
we’re like junkies
high intensity for a week straight will leave me feeling like death. but then i come back after a fews days rest and hit a PR and become happy happy joy joy.
i hate cardio so not being able to lift makes the stress levels explode
well it’s not even the depression, i can deal with that, it’s the loss of appetite and sleep that screw me over. It’s a recovery week and i can’t recover properly if I’m up until 3 in the morning thinking about the purposes of life. and loss of appetite really doesnt help to repair my body.

You try sleeping pills? Its much better to take a pill and get a good nights sleep than to not take a pill and not sleep well. Unison ambien benedril ativan those all help. If your minds going off ambien is great. Just don’t take too much for too long cause I think it can make depression worse. Just my opinion. Hope you feel better. I go threw the same shit.
Lifting is an effective way to deal with/manage stress. Not lifting could cause you to feel more stressed out, which might be causing the depression?
No worries, I am the the same way! I seem to suffer from feelings of anxiety and restlessness even when taking two to three consecutive days off. When I stop to think about it, I train because of how it makes me feel physically AND mentally. I don’t think there is any med that could replace the feeling…
i get depressed if im injured

well its definitely not stress because it’s summer and I have no school at all. I think its the serotonin release, which my doc verified and then he said I should back off lifting and do more cardio because its not good if it affects me psychologically to that degree… yea ill do that doc.
ya happiness is a bad thing, if you’re too happy it might keep you from needing those pharma meds
Hahaha, You know soon they are going to release some new supplement after reading this thread…
Something that will make lifters happy; if they are injured or can’t train.
I do get depressed if I dont train.
I was just told today infact.
Your acting like a bitch go to the gym or something.
and its not the first time I have been told that.
