Anyone Else Excited For the Olympics?

just to show you what a few of them did in trials, now think of what they will do with all the adrenaline of competing at the Olympics in their home country. [/quote]

Adrenaline. Your funny.

Obviously he means Koklaev, but why would one speculate this? Misha is one of the best strongman competitors in the world, and I’m curious why someone would assume he’d be giving that up to go back to Oly lifting.

Not to say he’d be completely giving it up. While training strongman, Misha has remained an amazing olympic lifter. I just don’t think he’d trade priorities, but was wondering if someone had heard differently.

I will be watching it, is anyone on the forums olympic standard?

To those interested Shane Hamman will be doing commentary for NBC at the Olympics.

No

Wow. That commentary was amazing. Might skip work that week to watch the lifting if theyll be doing the commentary again, ha.

he competed at the Russian Nationals and posted a very easy 210kg snatch and barely missed 253 CJ after a silly easy clean. He hasn’t competed at the last few years Nationals as far as I know and was a complete surprise when he showed up on the results and youtube! Why would Russia send anyone else in the 105’s when this guy looks like he could do 215/265 like nothing? He’s not only one of the top strongman, he is one of the top OL!

I heard he has some political issues with Russia, and they don’t want him competing for them or something. I’m not 100% sure but I don’t think he can’t compete for them, so thats a reason he probably wont be in Olympics.

Here are some photos from the Russian championships earlier this month in the city of Saransk:

Results for the men are here (in Russian, but you can identify the snatch and c&j results easily enough in the middle columns showing each of the three attempts.

Thanks Ajax, fantastic stuff. Jeez, did you see the picture of Lapikov snatching 200kg?

And speaking of snatching, and Koklyaev, here’s a video of him putting up a 110kg barbell with one hand…

And a 300kg front squat…

While I’m at it, here’s some more video of Misha…

Poetry and power-snatching 160kg,

Singing drinking songs with Vasyl, for Kaz,

How can you not love this guy?

By the way, me and my little brother are going to Beijing, so yes, I’m very excited. We’ve already got tickets for the 105 and 105+.
