Anyone been badly beaten up here

@dchris Deashi Harai and Sasae showed up a few times for me with drunks, and in each case just putting them on their ass ended the encounter. It’s also easier to explain to cops than a Seio Nage that splits their head open on the parking lot or something like that.

@gerry.b You’re talking about sport BJJ schools that completely neglect stand-up, which is just sport grappling, not combat grappling. Nothing wrong with it if that’s what you want to do.

Watch the clip and check out the others on his page if you’re genuinely curious what getting rag-dolled actually looks like by a competent BJJ practitioner who knows throws and takedowns. Quite a few of those guys are monsters in the weight room, too. My coach won gold for Team USA’s master’s weightlifting at the world championships in Tokyo about 10 years ago.

I also never suggested pulling a gun, which I have never done to anyone. I conceal carry because I can and I mind my own business because I’m a 45 year-old man. Pretty basic stuff where I live, which might be one of the reasons why there are so few spontaneous fist fights as long as you avoid the rowdy bars like the one I worked at. You never know who might be packing.

You also probably couldn’t outrun Carl. If I had to guess, he could probably squat somewhere around 200kg, too. He trains in a room full of monsters.

I actually made a thread a few years ago to explain my self-defense style in a bar bouncer context. Going to the ground was only a footnote on that list.
