Any Rugby Players?

Why did he not play for USA 7s?! Or did he? I can see why he got drafted; absolute specimen!
Pulled this off of wikipedia.

“Ebner, a walk-on player for the Buckeyes, was considered their best special teams player.[1] Before he joined the football team he was a standout rugby union player on the US age group national team. Ebner was named MVP of the USA team at the IRB Junior World Championship in 2007 (Under 19) and 2008 (Under 20), and at age 17 was the youngest player ever to play in National 7’s. He had considered playing rugby had he not been drafted.”

Was going to post this before but forgot:
A lot of the top USA rugby players are getting taken by football. It’s kind of sad, but hopefully they make the big $$, or are at least happy.

There’s one stutter step in there where Polamo gives a nice fake on Ebner too!

Hayden Smith who’s been playing rugby for a couple years now for the USA eagles has now been signed by the NFL Jets. Although this guy is just a hell of an athlete.

I used to play rugby. Was great fun, then I dislocated my shoulder a few times (“Subluxed” it and dislocated it in one match, then dislocated it again in a match a few weeks later). Not so fun anymore lol. I quit when I got to age 19… A rugby pitch is not the place for a 75kg lightweight like me!
Also, my instincts do not serve me well in rugby. If I have a pack of brutish forwards running at me, my reaction is to run in the opposite direction like a greased weasel… not head in their direction :stuck_out_tongue:

All you kids saying not to expect big hits, or that football have big hits are either clueless to rugby or probably just sucked at it (Eilson, oxen)
I could easily post a video of football hits that are far more impressive.

Leinster!!!

That is all

Sorry for restarting an old thread, but I will be attending my first training session for a very good side (luckily they’re quite local, UK BTW). I just wanted to know are there any things to avoid? The only thing I can imagine is no need to do any cardio. Training twice a week and possibly match days will be a plenty. Otherwise, it’s impossible not to train legs the day before a session or day after a session so I might as well suck it up.

My stats; 200lb’s (Hit that last week, so happy :D), 5ft9, 400lb deadlift, 297 Squat, 771lb x 5 Leg Press, 198lb Bench - I’ve converted Kilos to Lbs and rounded down. I’m reasonably quick on my feet but I’ll time myself on a 100metre sprint and let you guys evaluate if it is quick or not.
