Any Country Music Fans?

One of Hank 3’s new songs on the album coming out 10/1.

My theme song and an all time classic, who doesn’t want faster horses, younger women, older whiskey and more money?

I generally don’t admit this, but I do have Rascal Flatts in my ipod. I also like Keith Urban and Blake Shelton but mostly because I think they are hot.
could never get into Rascal Flats after I heard their cover of Life is a Highway. the original just had that raw feel that was lost in the auto-tuned cover.

although not as bad as this cover, at least to me

I don’t like the Life is a Highway cover either. Faith Hill redoing Janis Joplin’s song is absolutely horrible.

Still not as bad as Jack Ingram butchering Hinder’s “Lips of an Angel”. That was truly the worst cover I think I have ever heard of anything by anyone.

Red Sovine and Bobby Bare are always a pleasure to listen to, Jamey Johnson is a fantastic singer/songwriter and Alison Krauss has the voice of an angel. I have been listening to a lot of Keith Whitley lately as well.

Have you heard the cover of “Don’t Close Your Eyes” that Chris Young did at the Opry?

Not really a country fan but I do think Faith Hill has a phenomenal voice. Oh and I love Alison Krauss’s voice as well It’s so smooth and velvety, I can listen to her sing all day.

I don’t think I’ve heard that one, but I hate to see something negative about Jack Ingram. His cover of Guy Clark’s “Stuff that Works” is very good.

Great to see Townes, Hayes Carll, Lyle, REK, Gillian. I really like a great songwriter, which all of those guys truly are. For some reason Texas seems to make the best writers. A few I love: Guy Clark, Terry Allen, Ray Wylie Hubbard, the Robison brothers, Billy Joe Shaver, Jerry Jeff… Not a huge fan of Pat Green’s more recent albums, but Dancehall Dreamer was outstanding.
Great list! Many of my favorites as well.

Is there a country resurgence going on in the states right now??

At least a quarter of the music they play in the Gold’s I go to in Japan is country. It’s all TOP 100 BILLBOARDS type stuff, but there seems to be a lot of country compared to when I was kid and the country hate was quite common and strong.

a lot of crossover is occurring in country right now. getting a lot of play on pop, AOR, and even on mostly blues stations.

Nathan Hamilton and No Deal. Great texas country.

Who doesn’t love Johnny Cash? Whenever I think of him I immediately think of Ring of Fire, then I think of Silent Hill. I think his cover of “Hurt” is as good as Trent Reznor’s original version.

I’ve decided that I like Florida Georgia Line’s “Cruise” remix featuring Nelly. I probably wouldn’t go around openly admitting that though.

I actually like it better than the NIN version. Something about the say he sings it. I have bizarre taste in gym music and Cash’s “Hurt” is a staple of my gym playlist.

Hell yes.

Ry cooder, Johnny cash, Willie Nelson.

But my main focus is the women who sing country. I fell in love at a distance with Emmylou Harries in my teens.

Also, very much, this:
