Any Country Music Fans?

Johnny Cash made good music when he was doing pills, speed, and boozin. Once he married June Carter and found Jesus his music went down the shitter. Not that I am criticizing his life choices. He probably would have ended up dead living his previous life.

All my rowdy friends have settled down and it seems to be more in the laid back songs.
Nobody wants to get drunk and get loud.Everybody just wants to go back home.
I myself have seen my wilder days and I have seen my name at the top of the page,
but I need to find a friend just to run around. But no one wants to get high on the town
and all my rowdy friends have settled down.

And I think I know what my father meant when he sang about a lost highway and old George Jones I’m glad to see he’s finally
getting straight,
and Waylon staying home and loving Jesse more these days,
and nobody wants to get drunk and get loud and all my rowdy friends have settled down.

and the hang overs hurt more then they used to and corn bread and ice tea took the place of pills and ninety-proof,
and it seems like none of us do things quite like we used to do
and nobody wants to get high on the town and all my rowdy friends have settled down.

Yeah I think I know what my father meant when he sang about his lost highway and Johnny Cash don’t act like he did back in
'68
and Kriss he is a movie star and he’s moved off to L.A.
and nobody wants to get drunk and get loud and all my rowdy friends have settled down

yeah me and my rowdy friends have rowdied on down.

<still rowdy

Dear God,
Can we have Hank Williams back?
Yours sincerely
your creation

p.s. if you don’t like him, You can kiss my ass.

Is there a country resurgence going on in the states right now??

At least a quarter of the music they play in the Gold’s I go to in Japan is country. It’s all TOP 100 BILLBOARDS type stuff, but there seems to be a lot of country compared to when I was kid and the country hate was quite common and strong.[/quote]
a lot of crossover is occurring in country right now. getting a lot of play on pop, AOR, and even on mostly blues stations.

Speaking of crossover, anyone else think this girl sounds a little like the chick from Paramore? Seems to have that crossover sound but I never can tell about such things.

Before Cassadee Pope went on the Voice, she was already in a pretty successful band called Hey Monday that was quite similar to Paramore. So she’s a pop-punk singer turned country.

her old band, Hey Monday

Don’t watch the voice so I didn’t know that’s where she was from. Makes sense though as that song is only country by the loosest possible definition. I still like it so its whatever to me. Hey Monday sounds familiar although I cant place it now. Will have to google.

Edit: You did it for me, thanks. And yeah I know who they are, or were, or whatever.

Yeah, basically, she went on the Voice, here ‘coach’ ended up being Blake Shelton, and they found her voice was pretty solid for country music.

The only reason I know all this is because I met her and the rest of Hey Monday at my mall back in high school. They did an appearance thingy there, and she was so sweet and nice I’ve basically had a crush on her ever since lol

country and rock has been blurring for a while. between the music and lyrics are these rock or country?

even metal groups got a country lean

Australian for country(and not Keith Urban)

Ooooh Outlaws! I’d practically forgotten about them. I had all their albums when I was in about the 8th-9th grades which was 35 years ago. Lots of good stuff. Their Ghost Riders cover is my all time favorite.

I like her better in this teen band. That other song is just like any Kelly Clarkson song.

for you

for everyone

Alabama 3

I know guys locally who’ve met them. They’re apparently really awesome guys personally as well. For some reason, their youtube videos aren’t as good as their actual album, or certainly not the ‘last train to mashville’ album. There’s more electronic beeping and less good instrumentation.

good topic, i’m trying to learn about country.
