Front squat: 3x6-115lbs, 90sec rests- legs died so gave up
Plan B
10min easy on bike
1x12 on seated hamstring machine-40lbs+1x100-abductor machine-65lbs
10min easy on bike
1x12 on seated hamstring machine-40lbs+1x50-adductor machine-45lbs

  • whelp… at least I got cardio in? Was suposed to bench, but 1) benches were taken and I didn’t want to wait 2) fuck bench

Week 9: day 6

Db bench: 1x15, 1x10, 2x5w/3sec eccentric-40lb dbs
Seated row: 15 down by 3-55lbs, 30sec rests, 3x8-55lbs w/5sec eccentrics
Lateral raises: 3x7-12.5lb dbs, 5sec eccentrics
Tricep extensions: 4x20-25lbs, 1min rests

  • tired but decided to get this done, stronger than expected on the bench

Week 10 : Day 1 (yesterday)
so… I go to FL on 12/19 and get back to LA 1/1. Europe is 12/22-12/31 and I’ll be able to train 12/18, 20,21 + bodyweight stuff in Europe. Going to be reasonably active with XC skiiing in Switzerland and walking in London
In the meantime, I’m going to cram the heavy stuff in before.

Squat: 1x2, 2x1-195lbs, 2x3-185lbs… BOOOO
Good morning: 3x5-155lbs
press: 4x4-85lbs
Later
Deadlift: 2x3, 2x2-265lbs, these felt really good
Pendlay rows: 2x5, 2x4-135lbs

  • This was okay, squats sucked but legs were tired, happy with deadlifts all things considered

20min easy on bike+10min incline treadmill walk
10x10 lying leg raises, done EMOM

Week 10 day 3 (yesterday)

Paused squat: 3x6-145lbs
Front squat: 3x6-125lbs
Bench: 4x3-115lbs
Feet up bench: 1x6,7,8-95lbs
Tricep extensions: 5x15-27.5lbs
Db flyes: 3x10-15lbs w/3sec eccentric and 3 sec pause
Rope pull machine: 4x(2min easier setting +10sec rest)

  • felt pretty good and got the work in

Last exam yesterday so did my customary whole rotisserie chicken. Ralph’s is amazing. Flavourful and juicy. Ended the day in a 1k surplus…… oops. Also, gut was PISSED

Week 10: day 4

10min elliptical
Leg extension: 5x(20sec-70lbs+40sec rest)
Abductor machine: 3x8-90lbs, emom
Rope pull machine: 6x(20sec hard+10sec rest)
Leg extensions: 1x6 w/10 sec eccentrics, 2x(1w/10sec eccentrics + 9regular), all w/ 70lbs
Adductor machine: 5x(30sec-45lb+30sec rest)
Bike: 5min easy

  • wasn’t feeling great but needed to get something in, felt good and quick

Update: end of semester

  1. Micro: I am NOT going to do econ anymore. So glad I didn’t end up at Ucsd. Econ (micro 1) wasn’t difficult to understand, I just can’t seem to do problems. I used to grind through this stuff because of my econ friends, but now I just don’t see a point. The class takes time and stress when that time could be better spent learning stuff I am interested in researching. Also, it is pretty messed up that I cried over getting a bad score on an exam that doesn’t matter for me and did not cry over falling hard on concrete stairs.

  2. Required classes: the seminar class was fine, it was time consuming but I was familiar with most of the papers/concepts from undergrad. Ended up covering quite a bit for my cohortmate. The data analysis class was hell. The prof is super nice and honestly a good prof, the material was just explained in a way that did not click. I was less confused in analysis 2 than in this simple data class…… cohort mate covered me.

  3. Research went/is going well! Advisor is relatively pleased with me despite my issues with attention to detail and I just got added to an exciting project. My CC also introduced me to a new line of literature that explores a cool way of analysing complex networks. Will def be looking into that more

Basically, the approach is to look at relationships in terms of simplexes instead of dyads/collections of dyads → allows representation of more complex relationships

I am tired of sticking to my calories… I want to go back to 1900-2k starting tomorrow

The conflict is that I’ll be in a surplus when in Europe, so starting that now seems counterproductive and will only make my life harder when I return in January.

Thoughts?

Thank you. That looks like it’ll take awhile for me to work through, but also seems like it could be relevant to a few things I’m working on. Kind of a strange application though; would never have thought of a mountaineering and network theory cross.

  • the squats felt better than expected, the rest of it was fine but the squats were draining

Front squat: 5x2 paused-135lbs, 1x8-115lbs
RDL: 2x6-3030 tempo, 1x12, all w/135lbs
Abductor machine: 1x60-75lbs, 2x10-105lbs w/1min rests
Conditioning: (10kb halos+20step-ups to 20in box+ 30 medball slams+40 lunges)- all w/20lbs, kb farmers walks: 4x(20sec/side+10sec rests)w/30sec rest btw sets

  • this was HARD but got the work in.

Week 10: day 7 (yesterday)

Uni gym closed so got a 1 month pass and they had cool equipment!

3x(12flips+drag down and back on turf 20m??)-100kg “tire”
Sled work: 1x(push down+drag back)-135lbs(+sled), 145, 155, 180, 225
Bottoms up kbs: 3x10/side-6kg kb

  • this was intense but really really fun, was happy that I could handle the 100kg, dead today

In my opinion, given your activity level, you shouldn’t be consuming less than 2000 kcal/day. This is both for your physical and mental health.

  • travel day but managed to get this in before getting on plane. Turns out that is a BAD idea, worst headache I’ve ever had

Db snatch: 1x100-25lb db
5x(30sec renegade rows-25lbs+30sec plank hip dip+1min rest)
Db flyes: 1x8,9,10-20lb dbs w/3sec pause and eccentric
Tricep pull-down: 3x15-30lbs

  • felt tired but got something quick and easy in

Re: women’s place in the home

When I’m visiting family (and not travelling), I take over the kitchen and schedules. It’s a great arrangement that allows me to practise cooking and control time and make my parents happy, but it’s also time consuming work I find unfulfilling. I couldn’t imagine being a homemaker and certainly would not be willing to sacrifice myself for children like my mum.

This is why I support more “”radical”” views than most on this forum. I benefit from a society that believes women can be as good as men in certain parts of the workforce (e.g., academia, any desk job, drone piloting)
