this coronavirus shit is really stressing me out. The school gym closed so I can’t see my friends there. All my non- gym friends are either gone or have decided to quarantine themselves. Just when I though I was already a loner ![]()
I hear you on that. My main source of social interaction aside from school was the gym- rip to both
*wechat videocall lol
Week 4: Day 1
Squat: 1x10-95, 1x8-115, 1x6-135, 1x5-155, 1x4-165, 1x2-175, 3x5-155
Bench: 1x5-65,75,95, 1x4-115, 2x5-105
Front Squat: 3x8-95
- felt REALLY good, everything felt smooth, strong and easy
Why do you switch to lb?
My school gym closed for coronavirus and the new gym I joined uses lb plates
The government shutdown gyms so I won’t be able to lift for at leas 3 weeks
I guess it’s body weight from here ![]()
Research says 2weeks away isn’t an issue the problem is that since today was my deadlift workout, this hiatus means I will have gone a month without deadlifts ![]()
Try to use this time for some long overdue rest.
Two months from now you’ll be stronger than ever.
Keep calories up, do SOME work, take BW stuff to acute failure and try to do it in as short a time as possible. If you do that you will lose nothing but some preparedness which will come back within weeks.
Key is do NOT spend hours and hours doing BW cardio, that will absolutely have the opposite effect you want, forcing adaptations in the opposite direction.
There’s a bit of a change. I’m leaving on April 6 and the gym could open on the 30th but if I go to Shanghai, I’ll have to self isolate for 14 days again before I can go to the gym
Still doesn’t look like a problem overall. As you said, plenty of research saying multiple weeks off have no significant impact on muscle or strength maintenance if you arent in a calorie deficit. Lift as heavy as you can with what you have and don’t do too much cardio.
If it makes you feel any better, I took 3+ weeks off for my wedding and honeymoon, then set 3-4 PR’s within 2 weeks of being back. And I don’t run myself into the ground like you. I think you’ll be extremely surprised how much the rest will actually help you, if you let it. Your first week back might feel off form-wise, but your body will remember what it needs to do pretty quickly.
Are you not even a little bit concerned about being allowed back from Shanghai?
I’m a us citizen
Was thinking more in terms of general travel restrictions. I don’t know the exact rules in effect right now…but even then, things will just continue to get more strict over the next many weeks.
It’s really hard for me because I got off 6 months without deadlifting because of surgery 4 months ago
The track’s open, I’m going to do a “fuck it” workout today
What did that look like for you?
