Anna's Training Log Part 2 (Part 1)

LOL! I actually don’t count my veggies

Maybe not, but eating so many will make it harder for you to ingest real calories. Which seems to be a re-curring theme in this thread.

That said, this thread is very long, so I am not even sure I understand what you are trying to accomplish.

It wouldn’t hurt you to put a reasonable upper limit on your vegetable intake. And please take notice of

Is this an excuse to spoon pb out of the jar

You should treat it as such.

See, “excuse” indicates that there’s something wrong with eating the pb. Instead, call it a “good solid rationale” for spooning pb out of a jar. There’s a difference in the framing that makes all the difference in the end because it represents your world view.

You don’t need an excuse to do things that are accretive to your goals beyond the fact that they are. Its by definition a beneficial thing, requiring no excuse.

As would be cooking your oats in canned coconut milk, and not the light version, to get a whole bunch of good fats in, while making the oats taste 10x better.

Words have power. This is a very subtle lesson that is huge. Manifest what you want by speaking it into existence.

Sorry for the woo woo.

Strongly disagree. Coconut is awful.

Although I’ll bear you in mind next time I need someone to finish the bounty’s off from a tub of heroes.

FIGHT. ME.

I may have to try it again. Finding it increasingly difficult to get good fats in without hating it.

I throw canned coconut milk/cream in my coffee with a splash of pure, dark maple syrup. It’s delicious.

I will, however, concede that dried or shaved coconut has a gross texture.

This is bordering on hijacking now…

This is something I heard several times years ago, I remember Mike Israetel posting something on facebook on this and a few other sources I don’t totally remember. But as for available sources, in Renaissance Diet 2.0 it says regarding vegan diets:
To ensure enough protein is absorbed and sufficient amounts of all essential amino acids are consumed throughout the day, increasing protein intake by 20% from the recommended range for your sport and personal goals is a good idea. If you are a competitive vegan athlete or want to achieve maximum body composition changes as a vegan, ensuring complete protein intake at each meal can give you an edge. While making sure all essential aminos are in included in every meal is not mandatory for health, the small difference it may make can accumulate over time for better long term muscle retention or growth.

Now Anna isn’t a vegan, but only one of her meals contains animal protein so the same logic would apply to those other meals.

Also this:
(see 2nd slide, she advises extra protein if from plant sources)

The amino acids in plants are bound to antinutrients. This means we can’t get them (and therefore use them) as easily as the amino acids in animal-based proteins.

Plant proteins are generally low in methionine, leucine and and lysine (all essential amino acids, we can’t make them so we must eat them). All essential amino acids are needed to maximally build muscle. Fall short in 1 or more EAAs and protein synthesis in muscle won’t continue at the same rate.

Leucine is the limiting factor for stimulating muscle protein synthesis, here is what you need from plant sources:

You can find other stuff including studies if you take the time to look around. The precise numbers are debatable and will vary between protein sources, but 1g plant protein does not equal 1g animal protein in terms of bioavailability.

@Pinkylifting is there anything special I should do with my nutrition tomorrow in terms of amount/composition aside from timing carbs before lifting ?

Dude. You’re telling me that my whole life I could have been putting coconut milk and maple syrup in my coffee? Uncool, man.
