this felt awesome!!! Really happy to pull off 4x8 with less than 3 min rest btw sets, the rest of it was great too… then shite hit the fan a couple hours later……
Glad to hear it—that’s rare, even for required graduate-level coursework, and especially so as an undergrad!
So how’s your workload going to be? IIRC, you expressed concern about that sometime late last spring. Will it be better than expected, perhaps? Certainly not worse, I hope…
Uhh…. That’s the issue….
It’s going to be freaking insane. I switched from micro to a very cool social networks class. I do not regret that one bit since this social networks class is really relevant to my future research, but it’s also going to be a lot more work than micro would have been, even accounting for the lack of maths
I had a really great conversation with the professor and he was really impressed with my ideas.
Awesome! Because here’s some unsolicited advice from an old(er) dude: Look at this as a great opportunity to practice work/life balance, time management, and prioritization.
And work hard to develop an understanding of when “good enough” is, in fact, good enough.
That last bit is STILL hard for me… But you’re gonna crush it, @anna_5588! Just don’t get in your own way.
This is definitely going to be hard because so much of the work in the classes are “self directed” in that assignment guidelines are a “minimum for a good grade but feel free to do more”
Normally, I’d just do the minimum, but the assignments are things I’ve been wanting and excuse to work on so it’s hard not to get carried away.
For example, in my Behavioural Econ class, the assignment is to write a short essay about our thoughts/ideas on some topic. Easy enough. I could spend 3 hours and get it done. However, the prompts are basically asking us to come up with research questions and methods, which I’d happily do for days.
I read the work you did in your last session and thought “I really need to start doing lying leg raises and generally some more core work generally”.
Then I remembered the last time I did that amount of volume on my core. DOMs in my abs knocked me back more than anything in terms of feeling shitty. It doesn’t help that I have some digestive issues and I get confused about what is DOMs and what is the thing I shouldn’t have eaten.
In my social networks class, the first assignment is to make a graph of connections. I made one of all the professors I’ve worked with/under/was advised by. I’m AF.
This is probably the thing I’m proud of most
Colours represent department. Red is econ, blue is SDS, green are professors in business schools (RS is in HBS, CO is at CMU), yellow are profs who I would want to be my advisor as a grad student. they’re all in various business schools. I’m purple bc I’m a combination of econ and SDS.
there’s a typo. The arrow should go from UG to SS. He was her advisor
