Anna’s power level is increasing

She even had Covid
My god her stance is narrow. I don’t think I have ever seen a powerlifter go close to that narrow, much less set a world record doing so. Obviously, it works amazingly for her, but man that is pretty crazy to me. The ROM on her squat has to be a good 6 inches larger than many of her competitors, and she is still slamming heavier weights. Good for her.
Is this a tested or untested federation? if untested, don’t forget it is likely she may be on some sort of gear…
All that to say - don’t play the comparison game.
Sh s ipf
Yeah…. I guess…
She is tested so IMO gets the benefit of the doubt even though being tested does not mean much.
I agree with this 100%. Even more so because I actually met Tiffany (well saw her in person but did not speak to her) and while she competes at 47kg I can attest she does not walk around at that weight and is bigger than expected.
I bet she is normally 5 to 8 kg heavier prior to weigh ins.
Amazing feat. But why is that upsetting to you? You’re literally comparing yourself to the best in the world in that specific part of the sport (squat/ ipf). For me the equivalent would be Hafthor’s deadlift or Big Z’s log lift.
Fun week: day 2
A very dumb idea
Deadlift: 5x12, 4x10-90kg
Deadbugs: 8x12/side
Paused squat: 3x5-60kg
Good morning: 3x5-60kg
- yep that’s right, 100reps in 9sets with 90kg. In December, I struggled with 5x10 at 90, needless to say, I’m pretty dead
Random thought:
Yesterday I met with a professor (not one of my advisors) to discuss the model I’m writing for my thesis project. The model is a model of self signaling based on Benabou and Tirole (2011). I show him the paper and he immediately says: “wow, I remember that paper. It’s a difficult one, no?”
On the one hand, this was validating since I’ve been struggling so hard with it to no avail. On the other hand, I realized that I was in for an epic struggle. My advisors insist that I use it instead of an easier Becker style rational addiction model. I even told them that this is my first time doing modeling work… …… ……
Moments like these make me wonder what life would be like if I hadn’t joined and stuck with the Econ research club
Conditional on still being in CMU, I’d be cozy in SDS as a “star undergrad”, applying to a variety of Behavioural marketing programmes and not stressed about my lack of maths or stuck knee deep in benabou and tirole. My self esteem wouldn’t take nosedives every other week.
But nope.
Curiosity and pure stubbornness got the better of me.
I wandered into that meeting freshman year and never got out.
Not when I realized that I couldn’t understand any of the papers. I still showed up (as one of three attendees) and made the president and my friend (that one) sit with me and explain every equation.
Not when I spent 10hours a week grinding through 15+ line derivatives in intermediate micro. I ended up spending 7 hours working on a final I didn’t need to take.
Not even when my advisors described the workload and horror stories of former cohort mates failing qualifying exams. I’m loading up on maths classes and spending breaks studying for them.
So… here I am, in Econ, trying to convince myself and others that I can, in fact, do Econ.
Will it be a struggle? Definitely
Am I scared? Definitely
If I could, would I change anything? Probably not.

These are the reasons you will grow from it. Keep it up Anna.
There’s that tenacity!
Remind me to explain the word “fun” to you some time, haha. Nice work!
Fun week: day 3 (yesterday)
50min weighted walk - 30lbs
Bench: 10x6-40kg, feet up, superset with 5 burpees
Cable row: 3x8-70lb s
Lying leg raises: 3x10
- not as dead as expected. Got some cardio in then met fried steak the gym for bench. Turns out my upper body was more fatigued than my lower body apparently….
Did a lot of talking between sets so density was way down
I should do conditioning today, but I really want to take another rest day
Fun Week: Day 4
27min fitness blender kickboxing
- felt good and got HR up, loosened up upper back
Todays workout: Victory day
1945m carry with a 45lb db
Immediately into
5 rounds of:
9 front squats with 45kg
9 db snatches/side with 35lb db (they don’t have a 34lb weight)
Immediately followed by
101pushups
77 lying leg raises
1945 5/9 1:01 77
- this was a killer took me a little under 1hr 40min, but I kind of just “zoned out” and got the work in. Didn’t even consider quitting or cutting short, which was trippy. The Carries were by far the hardest part. Had to take breaks bc vision was blurring
Damn Anna! That is quite the WOD haha
My, that’s a crazy workout! Congratulations!
Oh yes when you begin it’s the kind of exercise that feels way too easy, but when the fatigue sets in…

Advice needed: I’m traveling back to Florida today and will be there until 6/4
I have barbell and plates up to 135lbs total- more than enough for front squats and good mornings. Also have kbs and possibly access to the club gym which has dumbbells up to 80lbs
The question is, should I cough up the $55 for a 1 month gym pass so I can do GZCL? The place I go doesn’t say offer day passes
