I don’t think these comments are 100% at odds with each other. I think there has been some positive change here, but ultimately, as far as I or anyone else here knows, Anna has not recovered her period, which indicates health. Whether or not she is at X weight does not matter – her body does not feel safe under these conditions and has not for years. Someone can be at a “normal” weight and still be malnourished.
Good points. But if things are trending positive, and I hope they are, maybe that will get sorted.
To prevent clogging up Flame Free.
The way I see it is that sleeping in without a good excuse is “okay” the way procrastination is “okay” as long as the assignment gets turned in and the student passes.
Of course it’s not a moral issue
The fuck are you on about?
Have you not just been working through an intense training program while starting school again?
Sleep is how your goddamn body recovers. Let it do its goddamn job.
EDIT: adding to this, you have a nasty habit of making generalized statements without looking at the specifics of a scenario. I would advise you to stop doing this.
So, my wife has the equally bad opposite timeframe problem. She will push past the point of dead tired to finish something in one night when it can wait until the next day because she doesn’t want to “lazy” and wants “to get shit done”.
Both points are equally asinine.
Sleep in during college for the hell of it, when you want to, because there will be many days in the future where you truly cannot even though you want to.
My personal opinion here:
Sleep serves a very important purpose. I personally guard mine fairly carefully.
Procrastination (for me), serves no purpose, generally.
I’d far rather sleep more and procrastinate less.
I haven’t slept in in years. Even 8am would be like heaven.
I do to- that’s why i’m so strict about bedtime. I am sure to get 8hrs (quality is questionable though)
Guaranteeing sleep time is also a big reason I don’t want kids
I used to do this. Then I realized that sometimes the professor covers stuff in class that helps with the homework or made me realize that a lot of the effort I’d put in was useless.
Steven R Covey calls this managing P and P/C. Managing your productivity and your continued productivity capacity.
Sure you can red-line your car all day, everyday and you’ll get everywhere really fast for a bit. If you want to keep driving your car for the next 5 years though, you’re going to want to calm down, get some fuel, service it when it needs to be serviced and generally act like a responsible adult.
Same. On lucky days I get a 1 hour nap (maybe 3 times a month).
it’s getting to the point now that since i wake up at 4 am to hit the gym when it opens I am starting to wake up at 0357 naturally.
It’s getting weird.
I’ve been waking up before 7 since 3rd grade. I’ve gotten so used to it that regardless if I go to bed at 9 or 1, I wake up 6. How tired I am when I wake up is another issue
I guard it in that if I’m missing out on sleep, it’s for a good reason. And I’ll have considered it.
I’ll miss out on sleep to spend quality time with the missus, or to get in a “must do” workout. I’ll miss out on sleep for important social events or opportunities. I won’t miss out on it because Facebook or TV or whatever. My general rule is “is there a chance this will impact my life 1 year from now”.
Same
For me, the only “good reasons” are meetings with my advisor(s)- I’d do pretty much anything for them; networking events or stuff that absolutely cannot be rescheduled.
I have woken up an hour or two earlier to get a workout in before catching a plane or before family events (I think the earliest I’ve done is 3) but I’m lucky in that i can always find a way to either sleep during the day (on the plane) or get to bed early.
I’ve also done a heavy deadlift session the day after getting off the plane from China. Very surprised I didn’t seriously injure myself considering that I dropped a barbell and a plate on my foot within 10 min of walking into the gym.
I will NEVER stay up late for a workout because working out makes it that much harder to fall asleep and my sleep quality is already shit
If your sleep quality is shit, then I don’t think you’re actually getting 8hrs of sleep.
Definitely not.
I probably get 4-6 from 8hrs in bed
Always love this tenacity.
Have you considered switching things up?
I changed pillows so my neck doesn’t hurt anymore
@dt79 I spend most of the night in a half sleep/half dream state.
It’s fun most of the time, but I wake up tired.
I also wake up 1-2 times at night randomly. I don’t really need to use the restroom, but I get up anyways
