Anna's Training Log Part 2 (Part 1)

So I looked it up, it’s not on Amazon :frowning:

CRAP! I got too excited and didn’t realize you had an amazon gift card. Sadlyf

See if any of your friends plan to make any purchases on amazon and sell it to them.

Or maybe see If what stuff you do buy can be bought off amazon, use the cars for that and set the cash aside that you would have used.

Or…you could ask your parents to buy you the belt. Just tell them that you really need it for the safety of your back. Use that asian overprotectiveness to your advantage

LOL!!! That’s how I explained owning my current belt when they found out…They already bought me Metcons, I can’t ask for more

Psshh…Easy. Just get straight A’s in class, then ask for another luxury item. Gotta learn the Asian hacks, my young Asian friend.

Hahaha!

LOL!!!- my parents are definitely less Asian than yours were. They spoil me rotten
The problem isn’t the cost, it’s that my parents do NOT support the idea of me lifting (they only tolerate it because I’m more stubborn).
Honestly, they’d MUCH sooner buy me a luxury apartment than a lifting belt

Something else to consider in the discussion of amazon stuff is a soft belt like this

It’s primary benefit is keeping the back warm, which is already pretty nice, but when put under a traditional lifting belt, it tends to amplify support. It can also take up any slack that your body circumference may be lacking, in instances of a belt being too large.

Something to consider if you’re still getting a feel for what kind of powerlifting belt you want to buy.

Haha. I actually never really asked for much honestly. I think the most I asked for that wasn’t really a need was an iPhone 4s but I really had to give myself a good reason for it - both a phone and music player, good quality (Steve Jobs was still around), and got a gray unit too so it was cheaper. It’s been 5 years since I bought it and I still use it now as my MP3 player.

I definitely recommend a rehband belt like suggested above. I use it on everything now after never using a belt much. OH press, squats, carries, rows, everything.

I’d recommend it for anyone over 30 who has ANY type of back injury in their past!! Its so nice to have that lumbar heat to keep you nice and primed, and it cues you in a light way to brace your abs. Also its Velcro easy fit so its likely to fit anyone properly.

I like my tapered belt too for heavy dead lift or heavy oh press. Belts for women with our various waist to hip ratios being so different, do require some fitting thought.

I have a boyish figure with no real defined waist, so for me my hip/rib area is super close together- any bigger/taller belt just cut into me or floated ontop of my very last rib. I never learned to use a belt because of that since I only had level belts or power lifting, USAPL approved big tall ones-- I thought all belts were so awkward and had no idea I just had the wrong belt for my body. This thing is fairly cheap and does the trick!

Good luck! And yes, a belt will help! I hope you find a good one for you! Its a tool you should use and make you a better lifter just by thinking about that brace in your abs!

Week 3: Day 7

Yesterday’s add- on:
Back squat: 2x8-60kg, 2x5-65kg, 1x3-70kg- all beltless; 3x2-60kg w/3sec pause

  • felt a strange urge to squat, so I went in and IT WAS AMAZING!!! every rep felt so strong!!!

Today:
6x(3 pullups+1min battle rope+1min rest)
Pullups: 10x2 EMOM

  • really sore waking up, but felt a lot better by the time I got in the gym, felt good and quick, pullups harder than expected but very smooth, back dead
@dagill2 no one’s gotten stronger with battle ropes, but plenty have with pullups, good compromise?

I don’t think you have a handle on what compromise means

I don’t think I’ve seen any video of you lifting. Have you posted some?

in my first training log1-2 years ago. I haven’t taken/posted any since

@dagill2 @whang @EmilyQ my body image is seriously giving me crap. I’ve been quite watery ( maybe it’s fat- I honestly can’t tell) and I’m up a lb and haven’t changed nutrition. Could “1600” be too high?

No. Be patient. It’s a long game, just like lifting.

Thanks! The thing is, I often find it hard to get the food in everyday, so I feel like I’m not listening to my body

And don’t do six hours of cardio, either! lol

Edit: weird, your post above didn’t load when I refreshed before writing this.

But there seem to be some distortions there, which is what makes it necessary that you play a long game.

Okay, thanks for the reassurance!
