Anna's Training Log Part 2 (Part 1)

When I was 110lbs @ 1.77m at 15 yrs, a doctor told me there was nothing wrong and I couldn’t gain weight because I have the “tall, skinny” kind of frame.

You know we even have a different BMI chart for Chinese and Indians over here lol?

A fan of the 100% scientifically backed theory of somatotyping I see :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

yep!

With that said, I definitely don’t have a “slow metabolism”

I used to eat philly cheese steaks as snacks and drink 5-7 glasses of milk a day with no exercise and managed not to be obese (I was under 5ft)

Unfortunately, I can’t get away with eating as much as I WANT

Honestly, if most Chinese girls lifted more weights and ate less pastries/red-braised pork, they’d do very well in bikini, even w/o PEDs

Have you even tried?

This picture is an improvement. She thinks she’s fat and soft here, to paraphrase…

Also, the back story is that her hormones are messed up (no menses) due to being malnourished (from what I understand), and there’s been no update, so everyone posting in here assumes the status quo. If she had started here, I kind of agree with you that it’s “ok”.

Anna, please correct me if I’m mistaken about the hormones, I only check in occasionally.

Let’s be honest, I’m currently not that much leaner and definitely not more muscular than the average woman who lifts.

Nope you’re right. I’m fatter but my hormones don’t seem to think I’m fat enough- again, bad genetics

When I say fat, I don’t mean it in an emotional way, I’m stating facts. I’ve gained fat. Maybe some muscle, but let’s be honest, 8lbs in 6 or so months for a female training suboptimally, it’s mostly fat

The 'bro scientist in me says you have to flip the needle to the other side to “convince” your body that it doesn’t need to be in survival mode.

Seriously? No, you abused yourself to an extreme; it’s much, much harder to fix what’s broken than to maintain equilibrium.

Your entire life approach is emotional.

You’re lucky. If you could’ve trained optimally from your perspective, you’d be even further down the rabbit hole.

I repeat what I said before: you can’t gain muscle w/o fuel; the only person who thinks you eat enough for your goal is you. Also, too much cardio kills muscle gains, I’m pretty sure that’s proven exercise science.

I apologize, that was out of line. But whenever I read your posts, I pretty much detect emotion.

Now, please don’t blame being emotional on bad genetics… -that’s a joke, hah.

Oh forgot about that. I don’t really know much about it. Probably should listen to her endo then.

P.S @anna_5588 you’re not fat and you can gain more weight and look good, perhaps even better. All I was saying is your current weight isn’t abnormal for an average female Southern Chinese teen.

She’s currently almost the spitting image of my one niece, except that my niece is like 28 and has been doing rock climbing and fun runs for like the past 12 years or so, so somewhat different muscle distribution.

Niece is about 10 or 15 lbs. heavier, but about 5 inches taller.

I honestly think you look significantly better here.

I will not say much of what it is I actually WANT to say, because If I do I’m sure it’s bound to piss you off to some degree. You’ve heard enough of it. Shit, I remember when folks used to say the same things to me.

It did not mean they were wrong however

I will however, say what I SHOULD say. And to let you know that you’re doing great. Regardless of whatever YOU keep telling yourself.

A lesson is repeated until it is learned hun. Remember that.

ETA: I should also mention that while I come off as…”inditchy” (some combo of indifferent and bitchy)…to you in particular…To be very honest, I more often than not would love if you came into my log more often.

With all that being said, you’re more than welcome to email me on my personal email. (I’m much more lively when I get a chance to converse with someone one on one) And I’m sending that invitation out to you only. There’s a handful of people who run across my mind regularly, and at the top of the list would be you.

So I’ll say it again: You’re doing great. You feel uncomfortable. I can very much see that. It’s okay to feel uncomfortable. Keep feeling it until you feel something else. It’s okay to bitch about it. Throw a fit if you want to. But let that run it’s course, and you keep moving into tomorrow.

When I say bad genetics (for fat loss) I mean that I have an unusually large appetite for someone my size. It’s always been like this. I also have very bad hand eye coordination and proprioception, which is a big reason I didn’t play sports growing up

I do NOT have a “slow metabolism”. If I did, I’d have been obese eating the way I did

I have GREAT genetics for strength. Not many females achieve a 3xbodyweight deadlift in 4 years while training very suboptimally and fueling improperly

The kidney issue is actually genetic. I had a upj which caused severe hydronephrosis

Thank you for your support cyber, it really means a lot to me :blush:

I used to be quite good, just never had the opportunity to take it seriously

You should not have deleted this, it was fair and I agree about the harm of looking at a pic and saying “so? I don’t see a problem” to a young woman who will ignore all of the things she doesn’t like to hear.

Anna, if I’m not mistaken your nephrologist is aligned with your endocrinologist in saying you need to increase food consumption. Is that correct? I also recall that you over-exercised secretly in your hospital room post-op with the kidney thing. So genetics or not, there are warning bells here.

@dt79 these are the reason the log has the activity it does. Not because one more college student is obsessing over her looks. This particular college student does not meet minimal standards for health and persistently seeks advice for increasing the behaviors causing her issues.

At the world expo in 2010, there was a 50m rock wall and if you claimed to the top, you got free tickets.

I beat all the men who tried as a chubby 9 year old, so I guess I wasn’t exactly bad :joy:
(No one actually made it to the top)
