It looks like I have inadvertently opened another can of worms.
That is “sample conditioning”, not "absolutely mandatory conditioning. This would be appropriate for a man weighing 200+lbs, not a girl under 90lbs, and if you don’t have a weighted vest then there is no need to do this at all.
This right here:
It’s interesting how different people can read the same thing and get a totally different idea of what is intended. My impression was that he didn’t want you to push the conditioning too much, seeing as he said
Also remember that this is not a powerlifting program. You don’t need any conditioning at all for powerlifting, a bit of walking and 15-20 minutes of LISS once or twice a week is plenty.
everything super tired and sore. Bench felt heavy and sluggish but not too hard to complete, felt better as I got going, incline press really worked chest, accessories+cardio felt really good and quick- Although I don’t get why ppl enjoy the pump
Week 3: Day 3
Deadlift: 5x2, 1x3-95kg, 1x5-90kg
Back Squat: 4x6-60kg
Deadlift technique: 60kg conventional
deadifts felt heavy, but got better as warmed up, very disappointed at only being able to hit 3 (mental fail), hard time engaging glutes at first. Squats really worked legs and abs, mentally hard but not too hard to complete, proud of myself for finishing
@chris_ottawa@Pinkylifting@T3hPwnisher I use mix grip for deadlift and find that the bar tends to “helicopter” even though I keep the bar very close (with vertical shin of course) any tips? I googled and watched some youtube videos but none have helped.
Not in competition, no (although I remember SPF was talking about having a strapped in dead division), but I would use straps for all of my training and just pull mixed grip at the meet.
Other than spacing your hands to avoid it and just trying not to let it happen, there isn’t any sort of magic fix. When I first switched to sumo I had the same issue due to the narrower grip compared to conventional, and that was what led me to switch to hook grip.
Using straps won’t fix the problem, you will just avoid it but when you pull without straps the problem will be there again. I advise not using straps much if at all, some people get good at pulling with straps and are way weaker without them. Unless you have issues with your hands tearing, your thumbs are beat up from hook grip, or you have serious grip issues then there is really no point in using them. Strongman is a different situation because you can use straps in competition.
For time: (10 bench press-95lbs+100 alt lunges+ 9 bench+90lunges…+1 bench+10 lunges)-23:45
Pullups: 2x5
Technique: HS hold
pretty tired and sore, bench workout a LOT easier than expected, felt good and quick- bar moved smooth, pullups killed back, mentally harder than anything
@chris_ottawa@T3hPwnisher I finally gave up on the idea that Stefi Cohen is natural. I got the opportunity to speak with someone who knows her and the answer was… 100% not natty
