It was kind of trippy having to explain to my mom that muscle and fat are different tissue

Also, glad to hear that willingness in the post prior to mine.
Frankly, not very long. What you’re doing is still maintaining muscle, if not building. Couple that with being physically and mentally healthier (if you stick with a surplus and work with a therapist), and you’re probably only a few weeks of CNS acclimation away from your old numbers.
You haven’t even gained 10 lbs. The necessary strength increase to hit the ratios you’re targeting is minimal, especially if you get healthy enough to actually express your strength.
This is the biggest PR of this log. You have no idea how proud of you I am. This is an amazing Christmas present.
Thank you
This really means so much to me, especially coming from you
This makes me happy. I hope you follow through and find someone who can really help you.
This is the post I’ve been wanting to read everytime I see a lot of activity in this log.
Awesome.
Having that discussion took courage, I’m super happy you had that conversation with them. Glad to see you acting in your own best interest. Elated over here.
My moms visiting and hanging with the grandkids this week so I was already happy but I just cracked a huge smile upon reading this. Awesome, awesome news, and brave of you too.
I definitely agree with this. But, imo you really don’t “know” Anna.
Isn’t “Anna” just another random person who decides to blog about her life or make youtube videos that purport to reveal personal information? And what about public figures who’s lives are all over social media?
Just some thoughts, absolutely not trying to “argue” with you about your field of expertise.
Also, gaining weight and MAINTINING your standard of BW reps is an excellent indicator of strength
No argument there.
In Anna’s particular case I would argue however that the primary objective needs to be weight gain and a healthy relationship with nutrition and exercise. Everything else (like strength indicators) are subordinate.
I don’t know how focused you are on competing in powerlifting, @anna_5588 but I would personally argue that focusing on absolute strength rather than relative strength would probably be healthier in your situation. At a certain point, in order to reach a certain weight on the bar, you will need to get bigger. If you exclusively focus on a weight in relation to your bodyweight, you can get away (and ultimately are encouraged) with shrinking.
You mention your deadlift as 3 x BW and your squat as 2 x BW but I wouldn’t even know how much that is. Be proud of the absolute numbers behind those and strive to make them bigger ![]()
Which is not to say that your achievements aren’t great per se! You are very strong (not only in the weight room). Don’t limit yourself.
Christmas dinner: about 20oz pork (2.5 very thick chops), about 9oz steak, a bit of broiled eel
Ended the day around 2500kcal- not too bad actually
Will make up conditioning tomorrow if digestion permits
How about you just skip it? Free periodization
Well, turns out digestion isn’t permitting so I’m going to do the planned press workout
Good for you! I think you should see someone near either home or school, because ideally the office, if ever it opens, becomes a place where you can plop down and be completely relaxed, away from all the sights and sounds of home and roommates. I would ask a doctor for a referral. They know who their patients have liked and who has been effective.
You could even, in person, show them this log for a greater understanding of you.
Um, there’s me here, too. My life, my disclosures, and the doxxing this relationship would require of me. I think I’m best as the resident “you might try this” person. Best for me and for Anna. I’ve already spent years frustrating and irritating Anna, and that’s not the best start.
But more importantly, local is better. Remote is safer for someone who is only partly invested.
I don’t feel comfortable in person. Also, my school is very far from my US home and I spend quite a bit of time in China
… and I can’t drive… my mom can’t either for medical reasons
I know, but my point is, you will. And it’s valuable in and of itself. What if you asked for someone near school and began remote, then when things get back to normal (if ever) go to the office?
Is there a plan for getting you a driver’s license? If it’s anxiety that prevents it, a therapist can help. Your questions about boys and sex…a therapist can help. Your decisions about career…a therapist can help.
So it’s not just the ED.
No and I don’t want one. Public transportation is very good where my school is
Good idea
