Your weight hasn’t moved significantly for months now. You already know your maintenance.
You’ve also talked about finding and eating at your maintenance for a long time. You’ve already done what you state your plan is.

I guess- my logic was that significantly changing the stimulus would require a new (hopefully higher) baseline. One of the biggest frustrations since coming to Florida was gaining weight at an ostensibly lower intake (I like eating)
but
also makes sense
I had an appointment with a counselor from student health services. She was a very nice lady, but I really did not feel comfortable talking to her. It was extremely awkward
It’s important to feel comfortable with someone, but being comfortable talking to a stranger about the things you’re not comfortable talking about with anyone is going to take some time.
Hire @emilyq, she will have a better idea of what you’re really like than you would reveal to any counselor type you’re going to encounter.
Week 19: Day 3
Shrimp Squats: 5x5/side-45lbs, 5x10/side-25lbs- 1min rests btw sets 1-4, 90sec rest before last set
RDL: 2x(5-45lbs+10-25lbs)/side
@cyclonengineer Diff eq exam grades came out today- I GOT A 93!!! Unfortunately, still not enough to get an A, but being .7% away from an A is good enough for me
With that said, she did make me feel better about my exams/school
Since you needed to gain weight, this is hitting the jackpot.
@anna_5588, I would support answer #1. Give “a very nice lady” a minute, let her organize who you are and what questions she has, and suspend judgment for maybe 3-4 sessions, since let’s face it, you’re guarded.
Trying to work with someone who already knows you opens a can of worms (in terms of boundaries, professional conduct). You don’t need someone who knows you or knows lifting, but someone who “gets” you. Who hears you but tells you when you’re avoiding or deflecting - like at TNation. People support your passion while not supporting your self-harm.
That’s excellent work. I would take a 93 in an advanced math class any day.
What’s next for mathematics?
an Intro to pure maths course, then I’m done. IDK if I can handle real analysis.
I also don’t need to since I’m not going to try for an Econ PHD anymore
What are you going for if not Econ? What made you change your mind?
I have never taken real analysis but it looks like a bear.
probably organizational behaviour- I’m more interested in that anyways after taking a look at some dissertations.
My struggles in my intermediate micro course/diff eq. Also, I won’t be very competitive given my low math grades (B’s) and my research advisor’s descriptions really turned me off
He said that econ grad school would involve a lot more problem sets/ proofs and that there would be significant competition between students even if they were studying completely different things
Glad you found something more interesting to you.
Bs in math are not bad for grad school. I have a few friends who are getting/earned PhDs in engineering with B averages throughout undergraduate courses.
Edit: Saw the end to your post. Proofs are semi-pointless outside pure mathematics.
I’d always been more interested in psychology than econ theory, but I thought that econ would provide more opportunity if my interests were to change. My advisor assured me this wasn’t the case
Well… looks like I’m not getting the barbell… ![]()

Back to another couple of months of kB “training”
And on top of that, I won’t get to do conditioning today either AND the whole morning’s been thrown off
I don’t often eat to the point of fullness.
I thought you already ordered it
It’s at a family friends house and my mom has to agree to let us bring it home.
I’m so disappointed. Just wondering, how long will it take for me to get back to a 2x bodyweight squat and 3x bodyweight deadlift?
Given expected weight gain, I’ll have to hit much higher numbers after taking a much longer time away
I just had a discussion with my parents and they’re willing to have me see a therapist.
Do you have anyone in mind who could help? Virtual appointments would be preferable as would having a therapist who works out
Well, if it’s any consolation, I’m not allowed to lift again till at least the 30th, until my wife hears directly from the cardiologist that it’s ok for me to resume.
