Anna's Training Log Part 2 (Part 1)

I equate it to sawing off your foot because you’re afraid of spraining your ankle.

Idk actually. Digestion has been shit lately, but probably because of school stress

That’s a pretty tall order :joy:

The structure is pretty nice. I’ll definitely be stealing from that.

Never though of it that way

Week 17: day1
Shrimp squats: 1x5/side,4x3/side-45lbs, 5x10/side-25lbs- 60sec rest btw sets 1&2, longer rest on other sets
RDL: 1x(1w/10sec eccentric+8+1w/10sec eccentric)/side- 45lbs, 1x(1w/20sec eccentric+10+1w/10 sec eccentric)-25lbs

  • turns out I just didn’t want to do pistols :joy: legs a bit tired but still got shrimp squats done. The idea is to do 5 “heavy” sets then 50 reps in 5 sets with as little rest as possible
  • decided to try a 30-10-30 inspired scheme w/RDLs, killed hamstrings and LOVED it. Don’t get how ppl manage a 30sec eccentric though

@cyclonengineer
We started partial differential equations today- they’re SOOO cool!
Somehow the solutions just happen to be fourier series

PDEs are awesome. I have sort of defined my career around them…I might be biased.
Solutions are not always Fourier series, but for introductory level PDEs they most often are (I assume your are doing PDEs by separation method - usually what is taught first). Also I am surprised you hit those in an intro diff eq course, usually it’s a standalone course or graduate course.

Well, it’s the last topic and we’re only going to cover the heat and wave equations, but still- it’s really cool.
We kind of cut systems of diff eqs short to fit PDEs in. Ended up only doing homogeneous first order

Week 17: Day 2

5x(10 press/side-25lbs+12 rows/side-25lbs+10pistols/side-11lbs)-circut style, 30sec rest btw sets
Press: 2x11/side-legs together, 1x15- regular

  • short on time so borrowed from flap. Got HR up a bit, but pistols harder than anything since legs tired and stiff, felt good after

Week 17: Day 3
50min weighted walk-25lbs
21-15-9, KBS-45lbs+burpees

  • pushed pace on weighted walk, went by really quick, finisher at end killer

Week 17: Day 4- easy day

4x(max pushups+800m walk)-81!!!, 66,74,40

  • Very happy w/ PR, I think I might actually have put on some muscle since performance on bodyweight exercises theoretically goes down with weight gain

Week 17:Day 5
Pistols: 4x4/side, 4x3/side, 4x2/side, 4x1/side

  • legs were really stiff going in but pistols moved a lot better than expected, really proud that I managed to complete this in under an hour- couldn’t do it last time I tried
    @alex_uk definite stress PR

@cyclonengineer diff eq exam tuesday

Wait, are these numbers a count of how many push-ups you did?

Yes- chest to ground

Week 17: Day 6

Military Press: 1x(17+2regular stance)/side, 1x(13+2regular stance)/side, 2x(12+2 regular stance)/side, all w/ 25lbs
Seated press: 2x9/side
Rows: 3x7/side-45lbs+30sec high knees+1min rest)

  • felt good, really worked shoulders, very happy w/ progress on press- just a month ago, I was struggling with 4x14

Week 18: day1
45min hasfit kickboxing video

  • felt amazing and quick, kicked my butt

Week18: day2
50min weighted walk-45lbs

  • wanted to quit 10 min in but magically got lighter, going to try for 55min next time. Traps were the hardest part

@cyclonengineer diff eq final in 1hr!

Good luck

DONE!!!
It was a lot easier than I expected- 90% computation

  • probably have a chance of scoring above 80!

Week 18: Day 3

Shrimp Squats: (2x5/side, 1x4/side, 2x3/side)-45lbs, 5x10/side-25lbs, 1min rest btw sets 1-4, longer rest before last set
RDL: 2x(2-5050 tempo+3regular speed)/side, 1x(10sec eccentric+5 reps+10sec negative)/side, all w/ 45lbs

  • didn’t feel like it, but not feeling horrible so pushed through- a very well timed post popped up, so couldn’t skip, easier than expected to complete, got more reps in and managed to do another set w/ the 1 min rest, RDLs killed hamstrings and glutes

@Voxel I’ve noticed something very interesting. When I was doing my 5x10, it felt like I was getting a strong conditioning effect (elevated heart rate, burning, slightly nauseous); however, it didn’t feel like my HR was very high until I finished the set and my breathing wasn’t elevated. Any explanations?

Well, when I was underfeeding the most my heart rate while exercising was forty beats per minute so I’m guessing you are still chronically underfed and overexercised whenever something is odd or unexpected

Week 18: Day 4 (Yesterday)
Military Press: 1x(18+2 regular), 1x(14+2regular), 2x(12+2regular), 1x(10+2 regular), all w/25lbs
Seated Press: 2x9/side-25lbs
Rows: 2x(8-45lbs+10KB halos-25lbs)

  • felt pretty good going in, press felt strong and easier than expected- seemed to work upper back more than shoulders , happy w/ progress
  • rows sucked

Week 18: Day 5
Pistols: Rest Pause- (1x12/side, 1x6/side, 4x3/side)-25lbs, 1x17/side- bodyweight, 12 breaths btw sets, 1x(10/side-1/side)-11lbs, no rest, 2x(5-25lbs+ 5-11lbs+5bodyweight)/side
RDL: 2x8/side-45lbs

  • felt good but quite stiff going in, got warmed up after the first part of the rest pause, killed legs, not as intense as expected, will do more reps next time
