It would be nice to know what’s causing this because I haven’t changed exercise or nutrition these past two weeks and the scale hasn’t moved either (last time the scale moved but at least I didn’t look any different)
per se*
Lol, just grammar nazi-ing
As others have said, your eyes might be playing tricks on you. But in any case, you are terribly obsessed with short term impacts. The body simply does not work that way, and yours probably less so.
As others here have said - this is a false concern. The consensus is clearly that you are looking a lot better with the ~5lbs you have gained in the last 8 months or so.
It appears you are trying to be “competition lean” without understanding the toll that has on the body.
Week 3: day 1
Sprints: 5x30m
Pistols: 2x(3/side+5slow goblet squats), 2x3/side, all w/45lb kB
1arm push-ups: 4x6/side
Rows: 3x 10/side- renegade rows w/slow eccentric, 25lbs
- felt crap going in but got better as usual, sprints felt really good, first two sets of pistols felt really easy so I threw in a couple of goblet squats to test technique- last two sets really sucked and took long rests, really happy with 1 arm push-up, renegade rows feel good but work core a lot more than expected
From that article:
“ Unless you’re a competitive bodybuilder and know exactly what you’re doing and why, don’t ever try to get this lean. Your hormones can go haywire, your organs can fail, and even when you avoid disaster, the road back to normality can be quite long and bumpy.”
Tell me how, with hormones going haywire and a failed kidney, you read that article and missed this paragraph.
Secondly, not a single woman in those pictures looked enough like you to determine your body fat. This is complete nonsense. You can’t have read that article, nor should “Legion Athletics” be your go-to source for stuff that can’t be determined online.
You are tricking yourself into thinking you have too much body fat when you already have so little that your endocrine system is damaged and you have one functioning kidney. You understand building muscle in these conditions is impossible, right?
Yeah, something, like fundamental human physiology, that dictates that you need a certain amount of body fat to survive. You write about feeling like crap every single day as a teenager. That’s your body shutting down.
This is getting to be genuinely frightening to check on. I feel as if any outside advice at this point that isn’t centered around how to get you into therapy is damaging.
I agree 100% for what its worth
I agree although I’ll acknowledge I’ve been caught up in not contributing towards this.
This is the exact reason I stopped. I don’t have the tools to help, and I saw all of my advice getting twisted to fit a damaged way of thinking. It’s wargames: only winning move is not to play.
Also agree, and why I also stopped participating beyond agreeing over and over again that therapy is the place for Anna to get the advice she needs; not about building muscle but about managing the obsessive-compulsive nature of her approach to fitness.
Thank you everyone for all the input it really makes me feel better
My life hasn’t been too crap but there’s been family stuff that’s probably stressing me out. I also realized that I’ve been eating a lot of honeycomb (a couple tbsp a day sometimes) so all that sugar probably also contributed to inflammation even if I wasn’t eating more on an absolute basis
Please reread the 5 posts above your last, particularly the one from @flappinit.
Week 3: day2
Jumps: 5x5- broad jump
Shrimp squats: 4x8/leg-25lbs
Press: (1x2pushpress/side,1x1pushpress/side)-45lbs, 4x13/side-25lbs
Rdl: 3x(5/side- 45lbs on working side, 25on other side+ 15 leg drops- focus on eccentric)
- no checkin today- went to Chinese market yesterday and loaded up on char siu and duck last night so bloated and even fluffier from all the sodium (and food volume)
- felt pretty good going into the workout though and it stayed that way, had a bit of trouble focusing on shrimp squats so form slipped a bit on the last set, really happy w/press and RDLs a lot easier than expected (progress?)
Weekly checkin:
Pic
Weight: 93.6??? (Bowels not even completely empty)
My “symptoms” seem to have gotten worse
- Mood swings
- Lower body swelling- my mum actually brought this to my attention and she’s usually the first one to dismiss my bloating claims. Also not the kidneys since my numbers from my latest blood test came back BETTER AND I’ve cut down on stressors vis less salt, less potassium and less “damaging” workouts
- Digestion even worse despite cutting out stuff that I know makes it worse
- Appetite has continued to decrease- it’s been hard to get TO “1400”. On the bright side, less appetite = less propensity to binge.
What do you suggest I do?
Go see a doctor
I don’t know what the “???” beside your current weight means. Did you cut calories to counteract the rest days?
Has anybody ever talked with you about woman/female stuff (in a positive, informative way)?
I look fluffier but weigh less despite eating higher sodium these past 2 days and with digestion blocked up
No, I’ve just been really full all the time. When my mom brought char siu and duck back on Tuesday, I wasn’t even tempted to “sneak in” more than 2 pieces after I’d finished my portion. Last time, we got duck and char siu, I pretty much polished off ALL the leftovers
I’ve gotten back on my HRT (Femoston) but I’d took that from last May to This February and this has never happened
Well if you are doing things differently now, you will get different results.
Things like better nutrition and less physical stress will pave the way for your body to function the way it was designed to. In a good way.
Glad to hear that your check up went better.
Now for the TMI: My wife and her sister were raised under some incredibly difficult conditions. They also had similar digestive problems to what you describe, but those cleared up once they were no longer subject to the stress/cause, and learned (and implemented) some healthy coping mechanisms. Long story short: it wasn’t the food.
Sorry Anna but I’m going to copy everyone else and tell you to seek professional help. The vocabulary you use to describe eating makes me cringe.
You’ve been told countless times to stop worrying about your appearance or weight on a day to day basis but you repeatedly bring it up.
