Anna's Training Log Part 2 (Part 1)

Is it wrong to read your confession in the flame free thread and come here and flame you for it instead?

Haha, glad someone said it.

Still waiting…

This was basically my point above. Brian has an MMA background, some type of elite military training (to my understanding…) AND decades of lifting experience.

I feel like I need to add though: none of what I and others are saying is to discourage you from taking inspiration from lifters you respect. Rather, it’s all to remind you that what they do just might not be right for you, and taking the ideas behind their training and adapting it for yourself is great.

I think of primary concern would be a God given set of balls and who knows what else.

The argument has raged for years that steroids don’t matter, or a training plan isn’t for drug assisted/non assisted, and I personally believe that is bullshit.

If you train like an assisted lifter or what ever, you better also be, or adjust the parameters and expectation of results accordingly-therefore not training like an assisted lifter. Drugs either work and make a difference or they don’t. Thus far, consensus is that they do.

I think this is an important consideration when choosing a training track or plan. One that is often either hand waved away or poo-poo’d by fan boys, but it goes back to “They either work or they don’t”.

A lot of people will say “it’s not just drugs though… Champions have great work ethic, genetics, etc.”.

Yeah. And drugs. And They either work or they don’t.

Not saying with certainty that this is a fact of the matter with him, just saying it’s something for consideration when modeling behavior. I was told long ago starting into sobriety " If you want what we got, you gotta do what we do", and I believe that applies very accurately to training plans and methods too.

Sorry in advance, Anna, if you feel this is out of place here. I can remove it if you’d like. I understand that my thoughts on the matter weren’t requested.

Non-military but similar mission set sorta stuff. I imagine he was a contractor.

He’s been pretty adamant about being drug free. From what I see, I believe it.

I like to give ppl the benefit of the doubt, and enhanced or not, his programming style is a nice kick in the ass

That’s entirely possible.

I guess I just got lost in my own weeds there for a moment on the assistance thing… Message being that finding a program or training plan that works for one person may not be great for another.

But different strokes for different folks. There aren’t any contracts or careers on the line. This is almost entirely abstracta.

I’ve not seen him mention drugs at all (not that I’ve spent much time looking), but I have seen him repeatedly mention being extremely physically active and training for at least 3 decades, which feels like a more important point. 3 decades is a long time to get good at stuff.

I figure, if he IS on drugs, he has the worst genetics in the world, because a dude that worked as hard as he did for as long as he did should have much higher numbers if also on drugs. Seen dudes without near as much work ethic, intensity or time put up bigger squats, deads and overhead with the help of a lot of gear. And that’s zero slight to Brian, because his numbers are incredible, but the context is key.

I’d welcome the opportunity

I think this is more important than debating if someone, that used to be a member of this community, is on something or not.

@anna_5588 It’s absolutely fine to try a style of programming and feel that it isn’t working and listen to that feeling. There’s other things that also work that might be a better fit for you. You are you, and not someone else. You can still work hard despite doing something different and having/wanting to do something different is not a failure.

What can also happen is you revisit this style two-three years from now and you just love it. That happens too.

Haha! I plan to do a “European tour” after graduation. I could stop by England, eat some cheese in Germany then head up to Sweden :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I woke up at 95.2 today :hushed:
I’m pretty sure it’s sodium bc I had smoked salmon for dinner (over 2k mg in one dish!) two nights in a row and there’s NO way I was in a surplus yesterday (I woke up at 93.4

Fixed that for you.
