Anna's Training Log Part 2 (Part 1)

Well, if you had a job with an income you’d have less time for steps. Two birds.

I am reasonably confident your parents would absolutely subsidise this. For me, an investment in my children’s health would rank pretty near no.1 on my list of priorities. It’s also a triple win: not only do you get healthier, look better, perform better, but also show your parents (particularly your mother), how seriously you take their concerns.

I miscounted, that’s a quadruple win.

I’ve asked before and my parents don’t trust online coaches

@anna_5588 have you ever noticed how often fear enters your vocabulary when you discuss nutrition and training?

I didn’t say coach, i said nutrionist. I also didn’t say online (although that may be the only option, given the Covid situation.

Regarding being adapted to activity level: thats a GOOD thing. After running my half, I cut out running but kept food up and set lifetime PRs and got the biggest and leanest I have ever been.

Every so often, when this log blows up with posts, I check it out…

AND it’s always the same circular “reasoning” going on. There’s an adage out there about the definition of doing the same thing over and over while somehow expecting a different result…

Well, this log is the same, with the “twist” being that the result is, still, always the same, but somehow the protagonist believes in their head that different things are being tried when in fact…it’s still the same thing being done over and over, just being couched in different terms.

Bet that was clear as mud!

Another vote for hiring a professional nutritionist.

:sweat_smile::sweat_smile: i as waiting for the snark. I have real issues and am using this place to vent a bit since my parents and friends could care less about lifting
The twist for me was finding out that you’re Asian :joy:

Not just Asian, Chinese, born in HK. So I know that if your need for a professional nutritionist is presented to your parents as a positive for your health issues, they will be amenable. Don’t lie to me with some bs about my parents are foreigners/different, you guys don’t understand, etc. etc.

Take it from someone that has walked the walk, overcoming those issues yourself when you don’t have to is not that far distanced from being a different form of inflicting self-violence.

Yesterday’s workout
Fitness blender 33min kickboxing HIit w/ abs

  • felt really good and quick, pretty intense and fun

Week 7: day 3

Pistols: 1x11/side, 4x(13pistols/side-11lb paint can+10 jump squats-11lbs*+20knee tuck crunches)-90sec rests
1x(10shrimp squats/side-25lbs+10rdl/side-25lbs+20 Russian twists-25lbs), 2x(11shrimp squats/side-25lbs+11rdl/side-25lbs+20 Russian twists-25lbs), all 90 sec rests
Jog 200m+3x(5m run backward, sprint back+20m run backwards, sprint back+40m run backwards, sprint back)

  • felt really good, pistols went really smooth and felt quite a bit easier than last week! Jump squats after pistol squats really burn but feel good. Thanks @dagill2 for turning me into those!

Here’s my progression plan for this workout:
Add 1 rep to the “top set”/week
Add 1rep to the lighter pistols/week and 1rep to jump squats every other week until I reach 15 pistols, then I’ll add a round starting back at 12 pistols and 10 jump squats, after that, I’ll reset the reps again but cut rests down to 60sec

For the “heavier workout”, I’ll add a shrimp squat or a pistol each week- on the weeks where I add a pistol, I’ll also add a rep of jump squat

Your sprint distances are way too long to have any carryover to your max lifts.
If that’s not your goal, ignore this.

I’m using sprints in lieu of conditioning

Just an FYI, in lieu usually means “in place of”, not “in addition to”

From what I understand, Brian has conditioning in every workout.

Are you trying to guilt me into doing more conditioning?

Does he walk 30k steps per day though?
