Anime?

Haven’t seen BLOOD: THE LAST VAMPIRE listed yet. Very high quality animation with a strong story. Plus, school girl outfits. Katanas. Morphing Vampire Beasts. Gallons of vampiric blood is splattered across an Air Force Base.

I can’t say the Blood: The Last Vampire was my favorite. I prefer the D movies so far, but thats just me. The animation was AMAZING but i didnt think that it held the Anime style.

Blood Trinity was the vampire show on Adult Swim that i was thinking about earlier.

LORD, i was just remembering when you could only get this stuff at MediaPlay and it was listed under Animation as Japanimation!!! Those where the days!

There’s more, I just can’t think of any more. But since 99, anime took a turn for the worst. First sign was when I saw Pokemon before it was a big hit. All the good anime got replaced by Yu-Gi-Oh, Naruto, and Hamtaro. I know you remember Hamtaro.

True Anime down at the bottom:[/quote]

Lots of good choices. I actually think the new Guyver series is damn good, but then again I’m a huge Guyver fan.

Cartoons in general have taken a turn for the worse. Some of my friends say it’s because I’m getting older but I watched Justice League religously on Cartoon Network before it got cancelled. I hate to use this word but it’s like this “emo” shit has just ran through and plagued the animation industry. What ever happened to the good ol’ violent stuff?

Cartoons in general have gone downhill. Crappy stories and plots, the disproportionate bodies (bascket ball heads on stick figure bodies) its all unbearable to watch.

I always liked the look of the classics ie. Space Ghost, The Herculoids, Johnny Quest, Thundarr the Barbarian (a personal favorite), GI Joe and Transformers. Whatever happened to solving your problems with an exploding cigar or dropping an anvil on a guys head?

Grappler Baki (I think that was the title) was fun in a cheesy sort of way.

The Hakkenden is a must, as is Ninja Scroll.

Fist of the North Star is the ultimate T-man film. Martial arts master punches skyscrapers, destroys cities and makes heads explode with a mere touch of his finger. Good old fashioned ultraviolence. Think Mad Max meets Riki-O.

Serial Experiment Lain was good.

I watched Akira when I was eight, and I still love the old dub. “KANEEEEDAAAAA!!!”

Hey this is my list:

nadesico
samurai 7
elfen lied
samurai x (the first one)
vampire hunter d
gatchaman
macross

theres some classics that u most own like:
akira
ghost in the shell
fist of the north star

in particular all mecha is good.

Japan takes it’s “cartoons” a lot more seriously than we do. Anime is “cartoons”, but it’s not really comparable to our stuff over here. The better studios treat it almost as a moral duty to produce quality work.

They have premiers, tv commercials and celebrity appearances of the voice actors and even writers and directors with people clamoring for autographs like we do for movies over here.

Justice League was the shit. That and the revamped He-man(I know I’m not the only one who saw it). Teen Titans wasn’t bad, but I knew who the audience really was.

I like the way you think, En Sabur aka Apoc

Another good post

And just to let everyone know, they have been doing revamps of Fist of the Northstar. Same story, but updated art and everything. Youtube. Looks TIGHT!

Did anyone see that one episode of Korgoth that was on Cartoon Network for a while? I thought that would be a pretty awesome series, but it died after the first episode.

Hell yeah I saw that, and fucking loved it. Did it officially die? I sure hope not. I’m also too lazy to head over to adultswim.com and research to find out for sure. I’ll say this though - it was pretty awesome, and infinitely better than some of the shit Adult Swim’s been airing.

I’m downloading Fist of the North Star as we speak. I hope it rocks.

I have New Fist of the North Star, but have only seen one edisode and it’s been a while. I’m about halfway through the second Vandread series now. Just saw Blue Gender which was alright, but not spectacular.

Watched Spriggan again last night and Princess Mononoke with my daughter

Somebody mentioned Karas:The Prophecy which indeed is an eye candy fest, but I keep putting it on too late and falling asleep. Kind of a convoluted story, but then again lots of anime is.

I fucking LOVE that game. I’ve only seen it at a couple arcades, but as soon as I have a few grand to burn I’m buying that sumbitch. Hella fun.

Try to get the movie from the 80’s for maximum shock value.

That’s the one I got. Starting to watch it now.

If Speed Racer counts, then Lupin the 3rd has to count. Older anime by a long shot, but I still love it. Strange, but I always did think Fujiko was sexy. And I especially loved Cowboy Bebop favorite series, along with the Venture Bros (although I don’t think that fits the thread).

I really loved Ghost in the Shell. It was the first anime movie I saw, based on a friend’s recommendation that it was a classic.

Nothing really original to add; pretty much everything I’ve seen is already mentioned. I’m kind of an anime philistine, but I love the artistic stylings.

Except my new favorite: AFRO SAMURAI. Come on, anime with Samuel L. Jackson is automatically killer.

I forgot Big O. I don’t think I saw that on the thread. I like the Batman-esque feel to it.
