Anime?

Wow, no one mentioned Full Metal Alchemist?? That is a really good series especially if you have a brother your close too, The enlgish dub is well done as also.

Now and then, here and there: Very good and very graphic, none of that silly humor that sometimes plagues anime.

Outlaw Star: still think that Series Firefly stole its whole plot off of that series.

Big O: Got kind of freaky that last season but never the less had a lot of food for thought.

Gungrave: good buddy story.

Akira: original version, not that remastered crap that came out in 2001

Gundam Wing, and Gundam 08th MS team(by far the greatest Gundam series to date.

My list can become very extensive because I am a big fan of Anime, thats the tip of the iceberg.

Buddy story LOL?!?!?!

I guess it is, but I never exactly looked at it that way. After all that shit Harry and Brandon, oh well nevermind, don’t wanna ruin it for anybody who hasn’t seen it yet.

For those berserk fans, have you also read the manga? Not to oversell it, but it is 10x radder than the already rocking anime.

Its alot more violent and shocking though, but a great read, even for those that dont like comics, I didn’t either, before berserk

you can get almost the whole thing so far here

http://www.thehawks.org/

The artwork in the first few, while still good, pales in comparison to how awesome it progressively gets

I watched the Berserk Anime first (blasphemous, I know) and was completely blown off of my rocker; flabbergasted, I then searched out the manga-scanlations online and devoured those within a couple of days, leaving me, like all the other fans, waiting for the new one of drop every couple of weeks.

By the way, how’d everyone like that three month (or was it more?) wait muiro put us through for episode 280? Hehe

tassie’s right, the artwork has come a long way, you can definately see the skill developing into something magnificient.

I like reading the manga, but there is something to be said about having the action animated for you on the screen. I really got lost in the anime as much, if not more so than the mange, and would kill for another season, but for all I know it won’t happen…at least not for a long long while.

Bearing witness to Guts’ badassery after the anime ends, however, is awesome, simply awesome, and the manga does a good job of conveying it, and once you get in the flow of reading it, its like watching an animated series.

But as has been repeated, Berserk is awesome and if you’re even sketchy about anime and wanna see what all the fuss is about, and why people can get so hooked into this stuff and how romantic the stories are, check it out. You won’t be disappointed.
Fucking amen. Berserk all the way.

I disagree. I believe Full Metal Alchemist sucks balls. But I respect your opinion.

Outlaw Star: Shrugs I didn’t like the main character. How’d that douchebag get 3 chicks.

Big O: First season was good, but I think the next season and on were done by Americans.

Far as Gundam, how can you hate on Stardust Memory and the original UC Gundam series.

^That’s a good one.

I used to be watch a lot of anime; now I’m down to a weekly fix of Naruto and Bleach. Some of my favorites were Trigun, Outlaw Star, Akira, and Cowboy Bebop.

Fillers are over!!!
Yeah, my damn bittorrent picked a great time to stop working! I still haven’t seen last week’s episodes. Someone’s supposed to give me a CD today though.

Damn, that’s two people who completely missed my post.

Bleach kept me going during the Naruto filler. Even the Bleach filler was better (and shorter!). The current season is really exciting.

HOLY G-D… How could i forget Perfect Blue???

That movie sends me through it!

Also got into MadLax, Demon City Shinjuku, Ninja Scroll, and the Cry Wolf series… i think its called Cry Wolf.

There is a new one about vampires thats on sci-fi on Saturdays, but i dont know the name of it. It is futuristic, but has a lot of bishops and nuns and things.

Totally also did Avatar on Nickelodeon (Yeah… im a big geek), and the Marvel Manga series of books. Mange Punisher and Elektra KICK ASS!

another wierd couple i liked

ayane’s high kick

the slayers

true Anime comedy is great when it’s written to be a comedy, not added for kiddie factor.

la’
Redsol1

prince of tennis (one of my favs)
Hunter x Hunter (probably my favorite)
hellsing
shingetsutan tsukihime
tenjou tenge
trinity blood

…there are so many, I can’t remember them all. These are generally the ones that I liked the most.

I’m surprised no one mentioned Vagabond.

Yeah, Perfect Blue was all messed up. Great “am I cracking up?” story which was originally going to be made as a live action movie.

Sorry man, the thread has already blown up into a three page monster, I guess my skimming was a little on the shit side.

The Bounto filler was infinitely better than ‘Postman Naruto’ or ‘Fat Rock Lee’. Seriously that shit wasn’t even whatchable on an ironic level.

To be honest the Bleach filler could easily have been the main storyline for a less stellar series.

I currently have a few series queued up that need to be watched; I still haven’t seen GITS:SAC 2nd GIG or Death Note (I know it’s not that popular but a friend of mine does the subbing so I feel I should watch it).

Some of you guys may think I’m nuts, especially if you saw any of my posts in the Eddie Van Halen thread, but I love this song. The opening theme for the Vision of Escaflowne series.

This is original footage of the then 15 year old Maaya Sakamoto who, as I said before also did both the English and Japanese voices of the lead character Hitomi Kanzaki flawlessly.

Edit: The end theme to Wolf’s Rain. I love this girl’s voice. She’s several years older here.

Any Hajime no Ippo fans? Great show, especially if you like boxing.

Does "Kimba: The White Lion: and “Speed Racer” count?

Agent Frost beat ya to it above. Those were definitely anime, but not what is usually meant today.

I loved Kimba even more than Speed Racer. Maybe they primed me for later life.

“Who’s the king of deepest darkest Africa?..” come on sing it with me. I can’t believe I still remember the words to that theme song. It’s been at least 30 years, but Blockbuster online has the Kimba DVD set on the way. Already in my Q.

I don’t know this one.
krayon wrote:

Haven’t seen Vagabond either. It’s astonishing how much there is.

Hajime no ippo is badass.

Rurouni Kension
One Piece
Naruto
Bleach
Ninja Scroll
Evangelion

Haven’t seen BLOOD: THE LAST VAMPIRE listed yet. Very high quality animation with a strong story. Plus, school girl outfits. Katanas. Morphing Vampire Beasts. Gallons of vampiric blood is splattered across an Air Force Base.

Kakurenbo: Hide & Seek. this is another short movie, suspence/thriller about kids playing a supernatural game of hide and seek. Perfect for Halloween. The monsters are by far some of the most imaginative I have seen in a while.

ARMITAGE III: PolyMatrix & DualMatrix. This is a classic for cyber punk fans. Both OVAs had exceptional American voice overs. The fight seens are spectacular

Blood Reign: Curse of Yoma. This one was breifly mentioned earlier. Basically a lone ninja is out to kill his old buddy another lone ninja. In the process he fights a bloodthirsty demon horse on a beach. The fight scenes and animation is like watching your darkest nightmares unfold on screen, but with ninjas. Cant remember much of a plot or ending, but definately some amazing battles.

3x3 Eyes: A good adventure story with lots of magic, monsters and an immortal bodyguard who dies time after time in the most spectacular ways. The fight scenes are a mix of hand-to-hand combat, magic and of course the bodyguard being disembowled (only to reabsorb his spilt guts and recover in time to be evicerated in the next fight).

Cyber City Oedo 808. more cyber punk. Here the police employ convicted criminals for law enforcement. This is one has something for everyone…huanted killer Skyscrapers…govenrment conspiracies…and Vampire vs Martial Artist (wait for it…) IN SPACE. And they drop the f-bomb every few sentences

Kai Doh Maru. This one has a very unique animation stlye. Not black & white, but not quite in color either. Feudal Japan. Samurai vs. Witches. One stoke amputations rule.

KARAS: The Proficy. The opening credits of this movie play over one the best mano a mano duals I have seen in any movie period. The CGI treatment is the best money can buy. The combatants dual with their swords then transform in the sci-fi jet craft and blast away half a city. Transform back to men, fight, turn into cars, fight…the first 10 minutes is worth the rental price. Everything after is certainly no let down. Great battles. demons. X-files detectives…
