Anime?

Millennium Actress

This is a good one for the whole family to watch together. It starts out as a small time studio exec making a documentary for the studio’s 70th anniversery. In doing so he seeks out one of their fisrt stars/actress, a now ancient recluse. As the interview progresses her history unfolds. The movies she starred in and the life she lived blend and mesh together. Each movie she played in represents an aspect of her life. As her life unfolds so does the history of Japan from the feudal era, to World War II, to galactic scifi settings. One unique thing I liked was the changing of perspective. At times the audience saw the movie thru the lens of the camera and as the story unfolded you might find yourself running from sword wielding samurai or diving for safety as the rocket blasts off. Definately not a story to be missed.

Okay, so here is a pretty good link for finding and watching most anything worth watching on TV most seasons available…including some anime.

What I have noticed is they don’t have the very first episode (ATHF season 1) when the moononites land available, I havent been able to find it anywhere. The one where they force Meatwad to do all sorts of bad …if anybody finds this, (not on torrent but if I can’t find it by any other means I’ll just do that) …

Can you let me know? It was my favourite one and I’m in the mood for it. They took the link to that particular episode down in Youtube as well.

Good Linkage:

Full Metal Alchemist was awesome and RahXephon was pretty good. I enjoyed Wolf’s Rain, too.

Is that the flower from Yoshi’s Story back on the SNES as your avatar?

Yes. It is.

I’m more of a fan of manga than anime, since well mangas are to animes what books are to movies.

In order of greatness:

Anime:

  1. Ghost in the Shell:SAC1,2 (TV) (the movies own too)
  2. Grave of the Fireflies
  3. Death Note (New TV)
  4. Berserk (TV)
  5. Rurouni Kenshin (the tv series is good, the movies are epic)
  6. Naruto sans fillers (TV)
  7. Full Metal Panic (TV)
  8. Akira
  9. Code Geass: Lelouche of the rebellion (new series check it out)(TV)
  10. Gundam Seed/Destiny (TV)
  11. Black Lagoon (TV)
  12. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (TV)

Manga: I have only see like 25 anime, but I have probably read over 150 manga so my suggestions here are worth alot more.

  1. Berserk (Most bad ass shit ever)
  2. Death Note (Amazing battle of wits)
  3. Battle Royale (almost as bad ass as berserk)
  4. GTO or Great Teacher Onizuka (fuckin hilarious and a good story)
  5. Vagabond (amazing art and great…semi true story)
  6. I"s (Favorite romance story)
  7. Rurouni Kenshin
  8. Slam Dunk
8a. Hajime No Ippo (makes the bible look short)
  9. Battle Angel Alita, and BAA: Last Order
  10. Bleach, Naruto, One Piece… (they are all the same type of manga, shounen adventure so ill group them)

Yes, I am the king of otakus. (fanatic/nerd)

If you want to know where to get any of these send me a PM.

Ghost in the Shell (all the series and movies).

Serial Experiment Lain and Neo Genesis Evangelion just makes the grade. Monster is really good too, if you can endure the 70+ episodes.

The rest are for kids - plot loopholes, charging directly into a barrage of bullets/laser/missiles/swords without a scratch, repeated frames, stupid villians, etc

Worthy mention: Grave of the Fireflies if you want a fucking weepfest.

  • and yes, I take my anime seriously.

I should be shot for forgetting Elfen Lied, Full Metal Alchemist, and Neon Genesis Evangelion.

And if you want a manga that will leave you near mentally traumatized try Koroshiya Ichi (also called Ichi The Killer).

Wow I haven’t seen the fist of the north star since the mid 90’s! that shit was badass!
