And We Were All Overreacting Over BLM?

Stop. You’re ascribing this behavior as if it only resides to “one side”. You can remove Trump from what you said above and <insert politician / political party> and it’d be just as accurate…

You’re describing zealotry or partisanship, which knows no political affiliation…

Disagree. Show me examples of people believing a Democrat to the same level that Trump is believed. Show me a Democrat that has the same amount of confirmed lies that is still credible. I’ll wait. I don’t want to be accused of limiting the evidence I will accept, so just show me any reasonable evidence that supports your assertion that Democrat supporters are just as willing to believe lies from them as Republicans are as willing to believe Trump.

I am not saying it doesn’t happen with Democrats. Of course it does. I just haven’t ever seen so many people blindly believe a con man who lies over and over again (well I have in religion, but it was a smaller amount of people).

Cheers, these are the points I want to learn about and discuss.

I’m in north west England, Merseyside. Not particularly religious and the area is generally centre left. Which is why the find the topic of alt right talking points making ground here a little intriguing. Even LBC (radio station) discussed it today.

I’m atheist but come from a Christian family, have a parent and uncle who are preachers. The whole topic of American Christians was mind-blowing when I learnt about it as a kid, especially around the topic of guns.

Edit, might make another thread but concerned it’ll just become bickering, tribalism etc.

Well, it’s not like orthodox Christians can support pro abortion, pro LGBT, pro make nuns carry contraceptive covering insurance. Democrats. And they tend to be as sexual assault happy (Reade) and chesty (Bill Clinton). At least Trump will pick conservative justices. I don’t get how this is baffling.

Sorry, but the left (Democrats) are too busy harassing wedding cake makers to be a viable option.

Was this to me?

Well, if you have questions about drag queen makeup, you know where to go to ask.

Nah. To whoever wants to read it.

This should be taken seriously, but maybe take a look at the plank in your own parties’ eye first.

My candidate hasn’t been accused.

Because you are voting 3rd party. This conversation is in relation to GoP and Democrats. This is a situation where one of the two major candidates is going to win. To say I can’t vote for Dems because of past sexual assault allegations is outrageous if you plan to vote for Trump. It is reasonable if voting 3rd party as you plan to do.

You and I are of the same mind on this.

Not at all. Nothing wrong with a long post if it’s substantive and worth reading!

Are the right wing talking points more around nationalism compared to religion? In the US, we get both of those as right wing talking points. I am guessing since your area is less religious, that it is more around nationalism?

Same. No preachers as uncles, but I do have a cousin that is a preacher.

Of course.

There are too many guns here to ever do anything. I am a left leaning, but libertarian for personal rights. I like guns, and they are not going away. I found this meme I liked the other day. Not really completely on topic, but I thought it was funny.

The talking points where more about qanon e.g. stealing body parts off children for Hollywood celebs. A bit surprising.
The nationalism is nothing new, especially with bojo at the helm but that doesn’t get much traction here.

I like guns, I grew up around guns and that’s very unusual for uk. I’m glad they are banned, I can deal with not going the range if I never hear of another dunblane.

I wouldn’t mind everyone giving up all but hunting guns if I thought it would work. I am not a gun nut or anything, but own two myself. I hardly shoot anymore.

I am of the opinion that in the US if we had a gun ban and buy back it wouldn’t have much impact on gun violence. Much of the gun violence here is with non registered guns, and most of the people committing crimes with guns wouldn’t turn them in.

No you don’t. You just want to shift the standard by which you’re willing to accept that IT HAPPENS AS I STATED:

The original statement was:

To which I said:

Now you’re saying, well there are degrees of accuracy … c’mon man… c’mon

You need to get real when you put this in your reply.

That last little bit allows me to say hey look, the rates of political leader belief among the parties are not equal. You understand the problem with the “and it’d be just as accurate”, right?

Because it’s a library. You can get thrown out for farting loudly.
