Yesterday I accidentally ate a fairly decent amount of almond butter. Didn’t really affect my weight or anything but the first half of the day I just felt heavy, lethargic and sluggish. My body just doesn’t handle a lot of fat very well for some reason, I’m just realizing how much better carbs are tolerated. Interdasting.
So, partner is pretty much out indefinitely for the next week or so at least with workouts. His workload just increased even more.
Kind of a bummer, because it’s great to have that synergistic, like, competition but w/e. I’ve done it solo before and can continue to do dat.
Legs today were insane. My overall caloric intake prior to the day was actually semi-diminished due to the almond butter the night before, and I cut back my carbs a decent amount due to the fucking carbload from hell I’ll be experiencing tomorrow.
Leaving at 3:30am to start hiking. Sigh At least it’s a three-day weekend.

Just got done climbing a 14er.
Woke up at 2:50ish, left sometime after 3:30.
Started on the trail at about 5:15, submitted at about 8:00am. Got back to the car by 11.
Unfortunately, we didn’t get to do the combo route due to INSANE winds… (like, wind advisors all up on the front ranges… 70-80MPH.)
For those who don’t know anything about mountaineering, a Class 1 is a pretty arduous and physically demanding “day hike.” A Class 5 (and it goes up by .1s after that,) is extremely technical and is insanely brutal.
Based on our conditions today, I was told by other hikers going up today that it was more like a Class 3 scramble.
Which means, holy fuck. My legs were SORE and I was like, straight bear-crawling up a fucking mountain with blistering speeds.

Lol. Thanks man, I’m not too lean, and will finish out the diet later this summer but right now, mentally and physically, I need to hang around maintenance and just live right.
So, yesterday was amazing/crazy/disappointing/pretty cool. We did indeed summit a mountain that is 14,270 feet tall. That’s pretty cool. The conditions were really bad and made things extremely difficult. Experienced climbers were telling me it seemed at least 1-2 classes harder than it should have been, so that felt great. We did only get the 1 peak in, however, due to incessantly high winds that would have put us in a fair amount of danger had we crossed a narrow ridge to get to the other summit. Dat be fine, we still accomplished our goal.
Then, as I alluded to in my GAL thread, I fucking failed the living fuck out of the burrito challenge. So many factors, despite me obviously being a huge pussy, that led to my defeat. I just legitimately have not been eating like I use to… lol. I told my roommate to have as much as he pleased (there is so fucking much left, like, you cannot fathom,) and he said it was impressive how much I did, given how heavy and thick all the food was. Plus, he said I got totally fucked with the quantity of potatoes… but I’m not sure if he realized how much 5lbs of potatoes really is, haha. Plus, one of the biggest issues was that the potato chunks were all HARD coming out, and not soft and mushy like they are in the leftovers ('mazin.) In fact, pre-workout I had a bowl of this, and post-workout I had a big bowl plus 6 oz of lean ground turkey. So fucking nomz.
Felt pretty terrible this morning. Breath was stankin’, belly was rumblin’ and I was over working out today.
Waited around for a while, played some video games and caught a second wind.
So glad I went in - gym was EMPTY and I just kind of tore shit up.

Right, I totally agree. I use to avoid cardio at all costs (sans DDR, of course,) but now I won’t go without it - “bulking” or “cutting.” (Lol at those terms these days.) I will say, we met some guy descending the 14er last weekend who said he saw us at the trailhead. Said “Holy shit, you guys BOOKED it up there!” When in all actuality, it seemed like it took forever. Felt good, brah!
So, I kinda made an executive decision today. There is an extremely high chance that I will be taking a plunge over to the Dark Side very soon. After a lot of self-reflection the last few weeks, I don’t HATE where I’m at physically but that is simply not good enough. Now begins the true “summit push” (OMG 14ING TERMS!!!) of leanness. And yes, there is a good chance I will be utilizing additional components during this diet. This one will be low and slow, and NOT extreme. Like, fuck if I care if it takes 4 months. I really need to get to around 185-190ish. Currently hovering around 215 (although admittedly right now I’m still higher due to the fucking abomination that happened last weekend.) So, that’s fairly exciting I suppose.

FWIW, I have gained in the whereabouts of 5ish lbs over the last 2 months at the same body fat level. Think it’s all in my legs but I’m definitely feeling GREAT going into this final diet push. Yaaaaaay!
