And Justice Is Served?

Blockquotedid anyone have any intention of doing anything other than encouraging Pence to not certify the election?

Right, that’s the seditious conspiracy part. Interfering with the transfer of power.

18 U.S. Code § 2384 - Seditious conspiracy

If two or more persons in any State or Territory, or in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the authority thereof, they shall each be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both.

First: I asked a question, so “Right” is a poor way to begin a response…unless I asked for directions.

Second: That’s actually the part protected by the First Amendment. The vast majority had no intention of forcefully interfering with the transfer of power.

The way around this is to carry a BLM sign while conspiring, burning, looting, killing. Or wear a black hoodie and call yourselves anti fascists.

Anyone who thinks the Oath Keepers are a danger to the United States needs to stop watching MSNBC and eat a steak. But the narrative being fed to self loathing whites is that white supremacy, which they are a part of by default, is the greatest threat to America. It’s just another example of the government’s war on the middle class. They won’t be happy until we are all peasants.

My heart aches for them.

You mean all mainstream media, except possibly (these days) Fox.

Our very own President of the United States says so. What are the lumpy sheeple supposed to believe?

You say peasant, I say a member of utopia.

No, definitely FOX. They’re not on your side, don’t buy their bullshit.

I guarantee no one on either of the coasts would’ve even known about the train derailment that fubar’d that town in Ohio w/o Fox reporting it.

Not saying anyone should listen to anyone else’s interpretation of facts.

The only one on fox worth watching is Shannon Bream

Shannon Bream is definitely hawter, but nobody gives off the lovable vibe like Dana.

I think Dana was the first female WH press secretary, back in the ancient days of yore, when jobs were still given (mostly) based on merit.

It’s probably another of Zep’s accounts. Posting since 2002… Last post was 2004 and all of a sudden dude is back and actually arguing 1/6 is worse than 9/11. Amazing.

1/6 was an ugly day and the people involved are mostly idiots, but the idea that the events were even remotely an existential threat to the United States is laughable.

What did 1/6 accomplish? Nothing. Additional security measures in DC…

What did 9/11 accomplish? Besides the lives lost, destruction, and wide spread panic induced, the Patriot Act, 10 years of war, trillions in debt, and thousands of American lives lost.

You should probably log back off for another decade or two…

It also created the Department of Homeland Security which simply added more bureaucracy to existing agencies at a cost of billions of dollars.

No, and that wasn’t my point. Just as I’m not minimizing the relatively few deaths that occurred on January 6th.

I was mostly surprised you compared this to 9-11, a day in which terrorists ended and ruined the lives of several thousands.

It was.

I don’t know. I don’t even know much about woman other than what she looks like.

Which terrorists? I haven’t looked into this, as you have. And why do such terrorists want to terrorize us (other than “they hate our freedom”)?

The impact would be the understanding that there are people who will go to great lengths to strike back against policies and actions they don’t like, including assassinations and bombings. And that comes with the territory of being a politician. Actually politics used to be a much deadlier business than it is now.

I cannot think of another impact. What do you think it would be?

Imagine thinking the US government was out of commission on 1/6.

What role does Congress play during a terrorist attack? Do you think AOC and Mike Pence would gear up in the event of an attack, but couldn’t because a guy with bull horns was blocking their exit from the Capital?

It was literally a group on mouthbreathers walking around the Capital for a few hours causing less damage than the average riot we were getting every other month a few years ago. We had an autonomous zone run by a warlord for months during the “summer of love” and if that isn’t a existential threat to our republic then certainly a group of goofballs taking selfies and stealing podiums isn’t.

I cannot imagine being this worked up over 1/6. The effect it has had on the country is effectively zero.

You’re describing a military coup that used violence and murder to attempt to harm the United States as a comparison to a tiny group of unarmed troglodytes that “stormed” the capital to stop an election by disrupting a ceremonial reading of the electoral votes not cast by members of Congress.

No kidding.

These clowns should get time served, maybe a few months to a couple years at most, and community service. For reference, Mike Tyson raped a women and spent <4 years in prison.

I’m so glad you put quotes around that word. I’m so tired of dumbasses using that word when talking about the January 6 photo op, which makes it obvious they have put zero thought into anything-it’s like they’re playing a game of telephone that was started by their media masters.

Edit: And “insurrection,” when talking about the same event.

The federal government is a lot of things. Stupid isn’t one of them. I’m sure it would do better than @Lumpy, if it wanted to gather information.
