What is everyone’s take on frequency of training for forearms and calves? I know that some people say you can train them every day, and others contend that once or twice a week is sufficient. I really need to improve them both, and was interested in what has worked well for others in terms of frequency. I work part-time at a gym, and I sometimes have free time where I could squeeze in a brief ancillary workout on an off day or several hours separated from my regularly scheduled workout. Anyone think this would be a good idea?
Twice a week for forearms doing 5 sets of wrist curls and reverse wrist curls really helped me. It took my wrists from what would be considered small to ones that now make my hands look small. It also works good for traps. Have not tried it for calves though.
I’ve had good results with training my forearms and calves twice a week. I usually train forearms heavy after by back training to finish them off followed by a volume workout at least 48 hours later. I have followed basically the same routine with my calves with the heavy training after my quad dominant workout. Another good exercise for calves is jumping rope which also helps with footwork and quickness if you are involved in athletics.
