Anabolic Diet

Thanks guys, I think I’m gonna try this approach Berardi experimented with here. It seems to correlate to this diet well. Especially since low carb kills your appetite.

Yes, I definitely use this Mon-Fri low-carb days. I’m even experimenting with this on my Saturday carb-up. I also take a BCAA powder pre/intra/post workout and then twice throughout the morning before lunch. Lastly, I also take one to two servings of ON Casein right at the end of my feeding-window. I like Berardi’s results but I kind of like the way it’s outlined on the Leangains.com website.

Day four today. I was sure I would never find the time to cook everything and that I’d feel like crap, but I feel amazing and I don’t spend more than 30 minutes a day cooking. Fry up some ground beef and put chicken in the oven at the same time and I’m good for two days.

The only things I’ve noticed are that I’m getting dehyrdated easier, that I had two mild headaches the first two days, and that my energy is through the roof. When I used to get up at 6:00 I was like a zombie for a good 30 minutes after, now I just sit up out of bed I’m basically totally awake. Also after work I’m not as gassed as I used to be.

I drink a LOT of water as it is, but at this point in the diet i’m up to 10 20oz glasses of water a day.

I think the way you’re feeling is pretty normal, keep up your fluids. I’m usually feeling pretty good Sat - Tue/Wed and then Wed/Thu I kind of hit a wall and crave my carb-up days.

Thats about right by Thursday or Friday you will be thinking of all the high carb meals… The funny thing is by Sunday afternoon Im usually graving a giant steak.

On a side note what do you guys think of eating 1 or 2 hi sugar junk foods like doughnuts or candy bars on carb days to spike insulin? On carb up days I try to stick with as much multi grain and clean stuff as possible but I feel real good after a desert.

go for it. nothing wrong with that as long as your doing the rest of the week correctly

Day 7 down, today. Just popped this meatloaf into the oven: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/dads-cheesy-bacon-wrapped-meat-loaf/ … with more cheese and ketchup than it describes and no bread crumbs. Total of 3660 cals, 264f/36c/285p. At 66/9/71 a serving, this looks like a keeper. I suck at cooking so if it’s not total shit I’ll post a pic.

so has anybody tried a wheat/gluten free carbup? rice…potatoes…fruits…maybe some quinoa. my next carbup im gonna try it out and see the difference in bloating and fatigue.

@ Wannabe big

I’ve tried it with mostly rice, potatoes & vegies. I dont think it gives a much power as some whole wheat pasta, multi grain breads, stuff like that. I feel much better with a carb up thats 60% whole grain style the rest can be vegies fruits what ev…

best work outs i ever had were the days following gluten free carb ups.

potatoes and rice… ok and a couple candy bars

and apples… fuckin lover apples…and they are low in fructose so win

doesnt give as much power as in better glycogen refilling and energy for workouts during the week…orrr more power to fix any cravings you had during the week?

do you have a gluten sensitivity? ive been GORGING on wheat/gluten foods (breads, pastas, cookies, yay indigo!) and have basically been walking around in a bloated, brain foggy stupor for 4 months before i went back on the AD. now i remember what it feels like not to have a distended gut from so much gluten lol.

soo after six, yes SIX failed attempts on going through the AD induction again, quitting after 3 days, ive finally made it to day 6. i think its safe to say the worst is over. i crashed HARD!! on day 2. i basically spent days 2-5 on the couch. dizzy, so dizzy ready to pass out if i got up to walk around, nauseous on the verge of puking, brain fog, not wanting to do anything besides sleep…to be honest, i was convinced i was dying of an unknown illness. then late on day 4 i had the most insane cravings for sugar in my entire life, nothing could compare to that 20 minutes of hell…i was ready to say fuck it and tear apart a pack of cookies and some pizza i had lying around. then it tasted like i swallowed a roll, or twelve… of pennies, yet slightly sweet tasting, hellooo ketosis. most of day 5 was full of lethargy and then near the end of the day i got a sudden burst of energy and now im up at midnight unable to sleep and rambling on tnation LOL. itll be smooth sailing from here on out.

lol. i dont think i have a gluten sensitivity. it doesnt give me brain fog or anything like that as i used to do my carb ups almost entirely from oats and i felt fine… i would get gas at first but once i got used to them no gas… no bloat EVER. maybe a little just because the volume in general was so ridiculous haha but not from oats

damn, i didnt think of using ALA or leucine to get into ketosis quicker. i remember reading about thibs posting something about using leucine… but i didnt think ALA could work?

all i know is i have a bottle 3/4 full of indigo in my cupboards and 1.5 bottles of glycobol just waiting to be used for carb ups

only problem is i started AD midway during the week, so my day 12 ends and cabrup would be on a tuesday :\ im thinking of just skipping it and going to that weekend to carbup which would be 17 days. or having one carb meal that tuesday and doing a full carbup the following weekend.

i would think the second option would be better. kind of the mid-week carb up, like 100-150 grams or so for the last meal of the day, then you can reset your schedule you your carb ups fall on the week ends… at least thats how i like to do it

Yes for me a more whole grain style carb up gives me more energy for workouts. As far as cravings go I dont really have those too bad. Some realy high fat foods keep me full most of the day. If you feel real hungry you may not be getting enough fat. I try to keep fat at 60% If you can stay full you wont crave anything. Also its not like your banned from carbs its only 5 days…

On a side note do you guys follow AD even when you have a cold or flu? Im sick as shit right now & Im eating fruit and fruit juice so I can get over this shit… Probably 10% carbs

supplementation would probably be better as you likely are getting enough vitamins/minerals to have a significant effect.

3000mg ESTER C(most bioavailable form) every day… and look into elder berry extract

hmm…interesting, i will have to try the whole grain style carbup then. maybe one day of grains wont affect my gut too much, only time will tell. im hungry most of the day on this diet, but i eat alot of fatty foods still, so i might just toss back a couple tablespoons of olive oil with meals to curb the hunger.

this dieting is making me feel more low testosterone and low thryoid symptoms than a high carb diet

i had to start back on DAA and nettle root. oh yea, PES Erase completely got rid of any trace of estrogen in my body lol wicked stuff.
