I would say a big NO to that one. Processed meat is no good for you. SPAM is like pig testicles, intestines, ground-up hooves, nostrils, etc. Gross…

if anybody is interested, on those AD days where you feel run down and tired, ALCAR is a great pick me up. 500-1000mg pre workout with 500mg in your intra workout drink helps ALOT with brain fog and tiredness. combined with 1g of tyrosine i have some killer workouts even when depleted.
Sounds good. I’ve become a big fan of White Flood. It works for fasted lifting and gets you going especially in the mornings.

white flood was a favourite of mine too. im trying to stay away from caffeine now though…those damn adrenals and all.

ok so i dont really think i would recommend skipping a carb up.
energy was fine until monday of the second week. then i noticed i was standing around more during workouts, taking longer rest periods etc
couldnt get any decent pumps going in the second week either, regardless of extended sets…
for now on i think i’m just going to eat what ever pro/fat sundays during the day (wings, sausage, fatty cuts of meat etc) then have a cheat meal before bed w/ like 200-300g carbs
arms are looking slightly more vascular though
look up palumbos keto diet. he only recommends a 1 meal carbup per week. its sufficient to give you the metabolism boost you need and refills glycogen with 200-350g carbs. just read the info he puts out on the purpose of a carbup. his diet tips are interesting too though.
thanks for the info! i may just do that tonight although i was looking frward to a rosemary-lime rotisserie chicken… oh well
re adrenals: im trying to avoid a lot of stims now too. just 1 cup coffee pre-workout. you may want to look into some vit B5 aka pantothenic acid, 500mg 2x per day… also if you have the money (or insurance) get a “diurnal cortisol test” it is a kit where you test your saliva 4x per day then you send it in for analysis. the AM blood draw is shit as it only tests 1 little time frame…
i just ordered one from http://www.canaryclub.org/

yea im drinking my first cup of coffee in a week, gonna try and only use it before big workouts like back and legs. i was looking at b5 agggeeesss ago when i was convinced i had adrenal fatigue, i might grab some as i need to go get vit D and C tomorrow anyway.
not a bad price for the cortisol test, but i already know what my body’s fucked up rhythm is. (lol) its low in the morning, cause i have ALOT of trouble waking up. picks up around noon cause i get energy, drops at 4-6pm cause i nap for a bit. dips around 8-10pm and then goes off the charts at 11pm because i can never fall asleep til 1am. ive researched adrenal fatigue extensively and “my fix” is less caffeine, and eliminating all sources of wheat and gluten, so AD diet is my best diet for me. and reducing workouts from 6 to 3-4 days a week.
funny if i go all week AD, and then carbup, that next morning i sleep for like 10+ hours and cannot wakeup til well past noon.
^well if you get the test done and it shows how off you are, you can have it treated… in the long run adrenal fatigue/cortisol issues can cause a lot more than energy problems

treated how? as far as i know only ways to treat it are b5, adaptogens, sleep, no sugar, and lay off the stimulants.
unless you mean those cortisol containing creams you can get prescribed?

yeah i believe its called hydrocortisone (to increase) and not sure what the lowering agent is… if there is one
edit: think their called “adrenal steroid inhibitors”

im probably gonna grab this stuff called “revamp” you can find it online just google “revamp adrenals”. its got b5 in some special form, rhodiola, licorice, pregnenolone, annnnnnnnnd straight up adrenal extract from bovine or porcine.
^yeah ive heard of it but seen some mixed reviews… i would look into a daily b complex (containing b5) too just for energy
Any of you run the AD while using r-ALA on the high carb days? This might be totally in my head, but I’ve been taking 2 tabs of r-ALA on my weekend high(ish) carb days, and I feel like I’ve really noticed a difference. I also notice, though, that I feel like I get more dehydrated when taking r-ALA. Any thoughts on this in general?
i take probably any where from 2000-3000mg ALA on my carb ups and i notice i get up a couple times during the night to get a drink
Thanks for the response, MAF–I guess I should have been clearer that I was more interested in whether you (and others) think it makes a legit difference worth buying/taking, or whether it’s one of those ‘just another supp’ that might make me feel like it’s helping when it really doesn’t make a difference one way or the other.

oh yeah, plenty of evidence supporting improving glucose uptake speed and all the benefits that come along with it… good anti oxidant as well.
btw in theory 100mg of r-ala is supposed to be better than 200mg ala bc apparently s-isomers counter act the r-isomers (in the glucose uptake aspect).
also can be converted into dha/epa but i dont think the conversion rates are very high…
What do you guys think about a day of intermittent fasting after your Saturday carb up? And if this is a ok idea, should I try 24 or 36 hours?
Just want to drop in here and log my day today, at least for the first 12 days. Day one is today and I’m pumped to get this going.

berrardi would do 24hrs, I would stick with that use some bcaa’s and creatine through out the day. both him and tate believe it helps preserve dat meat.
Thanks guys, I think I’m gonna try this approach Berardi experimented with here. It seems to correlate to this diet well. Especially since low carb kills your appetite.
