Anabolic Diet

Well guys, I’m switching over to a one day a week carb up. I’ve found that I am very sensitive to carbs in general and would be better off limiting them to 24 hours… However, I’m still shooting for EV-Olympic calorie numbers for that one day, and massive amounts of meat on the 6 remaining.

Today I gained 12lbs from start to finish. God bless milk and pasta.

Hope the carb-ups are going well,
JK

Dear God!!! 12 pounds in one day??? Geeeeezzzzzz! Don’t flex buddy you wont fit in the house. As for myself cals are a bit down this weekend as its been crazy around here but I still have today to fill the gap.

@Quadzilla: Don’t worry most of that is gone today. I just finished cooking 10lbs of meat though.

JK

12lbs in one day is pretty sick, nice job.

@those going for fat loss

I’ve dropped my totall daily calories to 2,200 on non-carb days. I dropped my percentages to 55% fat, 40% pro, 5% carbs. I’ve since switched to more chicken and olive oil and less 80/20 beef. I’ve found some lean round steaks that I’ve been eating as well.

oops i meant for the carb ups… my bad

oh yeah, lol, i’m not going to do the induction phase or anything

i was just thinking of punishing myself w/ a conditioning workout or smething like that haha[/quote]

When I slip up like that I will bump off the SA carb day and do a hardcore depleation routine the next day. I take it you do 2 day carb up. Just make your carb up 1 day and you should be fine.

I’ve got a endrance type event in nov kinda like warrior dash. Should I stop AD that week? Generally I dont gas out now, but maybe I’d do better without AD for that week. Just wondering what yall think…

I honestly haven’t been logging like I do during the week on my carb-up days. Should I be you think? I know based on what I eat it’s high carb for sure.

i dont think so unless you’re not losing fat. i was just wondering out of curiosity

Hey guys I’ve been following this thread and always find helpful info on here, I don’t usualy post but I’d like to see what you guys think when it comes to having a night out while on this diet.

This is the end of week 15 on the AD for me and i’ve been realy strict with counting cals, and weighing and logging everything i eat. Im about 10% bf 88kg and feel the best i’ve ever felt in the gym and even feel fairly awsome the rest of the time and I definately blame my diet.

Tonight I am going for A big night in the city and I plan to drink beers all night out of nothing smaller than a bucket lol. This will be the first time I’ve drank for something like 5 months so im definatley due for a night out but am wondering even though I will make this my carb load for the week do you think it would be a good idea to do 12 days no carbs afterwards to readjust from all the alchohol?

Also what do you guys do when youre going for a big night out to prepare your body or after it to get back to normal. I’ve gone from 2750 cals per day down to 2000 this week just so I can feel a bit better about destroying myself tonight.

If this is your carb load for the week I don’t see why it would a problem. Go grab a keg and party it up.

I try very hard to plan my social nights around my carb-up days. If I get stuck going out during the week I have like Absolute Citron + Unsweetened Ice Tea or Bacardi and Diet just to reduce the damage.

yeah. like obviously a couple drinks arent gonna ruin your physique and i really dont think you needed to drop your calories like that… maybe just for that day if you want but i dont think it was necessary.

no dont do the 12 day re-adjustment. you’ll be fine.

Well I’m hung over just reading your post buddy . . lol . .GO OUT AND HAVE A BLAST!!! . .

Life is about living, its short and there are enough things in this world to bring us down so when you have to chance to enjoy it do it. . . However, I will be really surprised if you get through the bucket as you may find yourself a “cheap drunk” now since this will be the first time in 5 months lol.

I’m like that after a comp . . I don’t drink anything for months and then live it up and it hits me like a ton of bricks that night and for sure the next day.

OK now to seriously answer your question with my 2 cents as always . . . .

  1. Relax, you will be fine.
  2. You don’t need to redo the 12 day thing - your body will adjust fine
  3. Just go back to the norm Monday - Friday diet the next day and all is good.
  4. Repeat No.1

Let us know how you made out . . this thread is friendly . . more than I can say for some of the other threads with the loud mouthed know it alls . . .

@quadzilla

how have the big 3 been coming along? also are you doing a mid week carb up and 1 day on the weekends now?

Thanks for the replies and putting my mind at ease a little, I knew I shouldn’t be worried about having a few drinks but thats probably the first big night out ive had since I got lean (I used to be huge/fat) and leading up to it, all I could think was it would probably make it hard to keep working hard if I had a night of what I used to do but when I felt well enough to eat the next day all I wanted was eggs anyway so getting back to my normal eating plan was easy and training today was better then usual for a monday.

Your probably right about not needing to drop my calories so much but it was kind of good to change everything up for a week, it made me rethink some of the foods I was eating and gave me a chance to play with my macros a little by changing some of my usual meals so I can up my protein a bit. Next time though I think i’ll take your advice and keep my cals up instead of going a bit mad and cutting so much. I think thats one of the thing thats best about the AD though you can have a bit of a brain explosion and do something stupid occasionaly and it’s pretty forgiving eg my weight is about normal for this time of the week even after last weeks change.

Sorry for the long post but I have to add this becuase after what I joked about in my 1st post, about drinking out of nothing smaller then a bucket I laughed my ass off when I found a club serving cocktails in small buckets, I was just no chance of drinking it becuase like you said I was a very cheap drunk.

My birthday week was last week, and it was pretty brutal! Few nights out, few days off work, a shit load of carbs from start to finish… This morning is now back to normal, but should I be re-starting the AD from the induction phase? I think overall I went 5 days of eating crap, so I’m not sure whether I should start again?

btw while I’m posting, is a non-carb day made up of 5 eggs, 2 bacon, cheese + some mayo (breakfast), 1 lean steak burger + veg x2 in the day, 2x protein shakes (around w/o), steak + veg dinner, tuna and cottage cheese before bed enough cals wise for a 5’11 185lbs to gain? Since I started the diet my abs are dissapearing but I think it’s down to my carb up’s being quite poor, something I def need to address and prob go to 24 hours only.

Saturday I weighed-in at 210 which is my first weight-loss goal. I thought my BF would be lower than what it looks like but it’s getting better. My next goal is 205 and I think this one will be quite the challenge.

I ate pretty clean for the most part over the weekend but I still put on 9lbs over the weekend. I’m sure I’ll be back down by Sat but damn… am I really just that carb sensitive?

OK I’m back after a rough vacation . . stuck with the diet for the most part but this Saturday was crazy had a huge birthday party and well lets just say Mr. Quadzilla who doesn’t drink, drank WAY TO MUCH!!! I was so hung over the next day I thought I was going to die!!! . . all week I was way below my cals for the day as I was out here and there and found it hard to bring my cooler of food like I normally do at work so needless to say my energy was way down and I was fighting a cold off as well but OMG Sunday was DEATH!!!

Now as for the big three I have just started a mini peeking phase for 3 weeks with equipment as a test run before my real peeking phase in December ramping up for the Provincials again but in answer to your question I feel great (well before Sunday lol) and the big 3 are FINALLY going up. My goal for the Provincials is to add another 45 minimum to my TOTAL and I think I’m right on track with my off season numbers so far.

I’m still doing a full 2 day carb up on the weekends and a mid-week spike but will pass on that this week in light of last weeks wagon fallout lol . . . I am sooooo not doing that again . . good God I have not been that hung over in over 20 years . . good time with the family but geezzzzz!

Quadzilla is back in his wagon today and finally hitting the gym hard

@Quadzilla: Glad to hear you had a good time off the reservation! I have some friends coming in from out of town this weekend so I may have some poison myself.

As a side note. This week I cooked up 7lbs of ground meat (85/25) and 3lbs of Beef Shoulder. I ate the ground beef with a handful of cheese and olive oil. Same with the Steak. I’ve felt pretty good energy wise.

As far as training goes, I’m taking this week as a de-load (3 high rep full body workouts w/ 50-60% of my max). Next week I’m going to start up WS4SB. I plan on running it for a good long time.

Cheers
JK
