An Uncommon Pursuit

Your in the books period! Nice work.
Great minds think alike. I “say in the books” a lot too. Especially after I hit my openers in meets.

Great vids. Love the Dave Draper in jeans work out. Really strong rows and great form on the bench.

friggin’ white screen of death. Just have to wait it out I guess.

On a side note, My shins and knees are still sore from all the skin I took off on those 5x5 sumo deads to the knees. Guess I’m succeeding in keeping the bar close to my body…

Ah - I can see posts past December again…

Do I look stupid to you, Skid? I posted that for everyone’s kulchurl enlightenment. T-men need that, too.

Send me a pic and I’ll tell ya.

I dunno. Sometimes my funny bone is broken. My bad.
No way. There’s no need for you to confirm visually what most people are guessing already.

Might want to do some prehab on that funny bone in the future.

I’ve been reading “Overcoming Lousy Leverages” #1 and #2 again.

That stuff is on the money for me. My bench and squat improve when I do top end work with full range secondary movements. I need a big pair of sticks and a monster ass to get me through the midrange of the squat and some more meat on the tris to lockout the bench.

I’ve had some fun doing things my way the last few weeks, but the program maraudermeat gave me before the comp was the most effective training I’ve ever done and I’m still coasting off it. Soooo…

Day 1: Squat max/ speed Dead variation alternated with Partial Dead Max/speed Squat variation each week. Plus extras if I got the energy and need for it.

Day 2: Assistance - Shoulders 1 week max, other week a circuit, rows and bi’s. Pullups go out the window. They look cool but I don’t seem to lose anything on them from not doing them.

Day 3: Bench lockout variation and a full range rep/speed movement, triceps work.

Back to the fun stuff.

I thought you were doing a Staley routine pre-comp, or was that a Staley routine via Meat?

The pre-comp routine was from Meat, too. He gave me a routine before the comp-prep routine that got me to pushing 305x3 of a 3-board, a 285 3x3 off a 2 board, as well as a 110 per hand dumbbell floor press. - all firsts for me after struggling with bench for two years AND with a bum shoulder. It got me to a 335 box squat and a 515 conventional deadlift. I wish I had had a camera back then…

The program worked really well in very area and would have worked better if I could have kept myself from going nuts on the assistance day.

I still see the abs in the video man. you need more food. And Beer.

Sounds like you’ve reached another level. When technique is required for improvment you are at the upper end of the scale. That’s when you squeeze out that extra power per pound of flesh. With your dedication and motivation you will be setting more records. Stay Strong & Rock’n Roll Skidmark!

Managed to catch a friggin cold. I may train anyway.

Damn Skid… shitty luck… those end of the winter, first of spring colds are a real bitch!

Hope you feel better. Been tough to post on your thread lately. Either it never comes up or I get Dec 2008 posts.

echinacea lemon juice , ginger and honey

That would go good with quality vodka…

Or a big glass of Ezra Brooks… if it doesnt kill the cold it kills the brain cells that make you remember you have the cold… And your cured!!

Yah - thread getting too long, takes too long to load. I’m thinking of starting a new one.

Im in all seriousness about the lemon thing.
10 lemons
grated ginger
echinacea
honey boiled down
totally works

or the cranberry method of a cranberry in the bottom of a glass of your chosen beverage-
keep drinking til the cranberry turns green

Even though I made a joke about vodka, I don’t drink anymore. I sure do miss a fine glass of 15 year old scotch and an unfiltered “Turkish Oval” cigarette though…

Oh I can understand those feelings… I still have a bottle of Makers Mark in the cabinet from 1989. WOW… Now I have a taste for a really good single malt!
