An Uncommon Pursuit

We are getting excited about your meet…
( and everyone elses’ meets too)

What are you taking?
Are you on the NOS-plode wagon.

I enjoy the rush from caffeine energy drinks etc but it seems easy to become dependent on them , prior to training-
going off them for me was the equivalent of drinking decaff.

Do you eventually crash? “Energy can niether be created nor destroyed”? I’ve used coffee to get me though workouts but when that burns out, bam.

This stuff just kinda tapers down. No real crash for me. Everybody’s different of course. I just feel highly oxygenated for about a half hour, energetic for two or three and alert for another two hours after that. Then I can go to sleep. But I never feel abnormally hyper.

To which part of my original post was this a response? That I’m the official selfish bastard of my household? LOL!

No, how the caffeine and such affects you, but why you used it to get that work out in.

Of course you always make sense, but that is what I was responding to.

Just trying to get caught up, and you sure are looking great with the training. I’d like to know how you guys get these “test products”, or whatever you call them? A 25lb. tub? I’d cry if that showed up at the Z-house! Selfish Bastard or “the baddest guy on the block”. I say the latter. Keep pushing it brother.

25 bs hopefully it tastes good
I would be afraid of it arriving and
being unpleasant.

I find most of the stuff I have tried
tastes pretty bad.

That’s what icecream is for. Isn’t it?

2-4-2009

Bench Day
115x10
185x5
215x3
235x4,3,2,2

205xuncountedx3-5 reps

Pin presses 255x5
275x4,4
255x2

Done.

2 scoops of the supplement tonight. No need for three for bench. Had plenty of energy, and bench is holding steady. Don’t seem to be able to make it go up.

There is just something just flat wrong in my right shoulder. Long head of the right triceps is not firing. I did some closed chain exercises after the bench and I can feel it lose power right about where the fist is 3-4 inches above the chest. The body tries to switch over to the lateral head but that isn’t strong enough to move the weight by itself. Then the elbow starts moving towards the head to get better leverage and use the anterior deltoid even more. And then it just fails.

I don’t know what the hell is going on with it. Probably some bound up tissue deep in there or nerve impingement in the vertebrae. I think I’m going to have to play conservative with bench since I can’t afford to fix it… Insurance doesn’t cover ART, unfortunately, nor does it cover the expensive doctor my wife needs to see right now.

I can maybe single 255 right now. Don’t think I can go much higher as things currently stand. Oh well - at least it still mostly works.

Interestingly, it previously responded well to a heavy partial motion and then lighter full range movements for 3-5x5 concentrating on form.

I punted on the board presses and did a bunch of sets @ 205, trying to make each rep perfect ; pausing and exploding off the chest and stopping 1 rep before form broke. Started with sets of 5 and dropped to 3’s as I tired. Was really concentraing on keeping the weight evenly distributed rather than throwing it to the left. I think I got 8-10 sets.

Bailed on the elbows out extensions because my right elbow is still really sore and making interesting creaking noises. It’s not getting better with warmups anymore.

Got some general cramping going on too. I was putting away a 25 with my left hand - reaching out forward with it and the outside of my left bicep up near the shoulder just lumped up. Not a tear, but a knot. Thought I was getting enough water, but that seems to be an indication I’m not. Feet and ass were cramping too on bench. This tends to happen more when I take creatine. or get dehydrated and worse when both are the case.

Not a stellar night tonight, but some solid work got done.

It does taste really good, actually. I’ve already consumed 30 lbs of it, that’s why I bought a 25lber.

Any chance you could send the -5lb (25-30) my way?..lol

Is this product available for purchase at the moment? I think I am going to need something to power me through my upcoming sessions.

Solid sessions by the way, been silently following.

I seem to get this creaking noises in my left elbow from time to time. Last time I did EZ curls with just 70lbs, heard the noise almost every rep, when I switch to skull crushers(supersetting), no noise.

Hang in there skid. That shoulder stuff is real frustrating.

My experience with creatine is that I have to double my fluid intake, or I get dehydrated. I usually drink over a gallon anyway, so using creatine meant 2 gal/day. I couldn’t handle the water, so I stopped using creatine. and started knitting.

I’d probably just quit taking the Magic Marching Powder, but I committed to this review, so I guess I have to drink more water…

I ended up skipping on creatine all together
cramps, and water bloat- a ton.
so I stopped taking it.

I felt no benefits from it…
other than the “bloat” I got.

are you eating enough potassium? salts?
I don’t know too much about your diet-
so I might be answering blind.

Deadlifts today. Gotta get my mind right.

Legs still freaking sore from squats 4 days ago. Almost didn’t make back from a walk down to the coffee shop for crying out loud.

Gonna need a good long warmup to keep the cramps and strains away before DLing. Take a hit of the Magic Marching Powder before I go and get a nice protein shake from the ice cream parlor next to the gym afterwards.

Chest and shoulder feel good today. The uber-set bench method seems to suit the capabilities of that shoulder joint.

Leave a little in the tank, Skidly

-but only a little-

I’m glad to read your experiences with the magic powder. I’ve thought about incorporating it myself and have wondered how it was working for others.
