An Uncommon Pursuit

Just picked up 6 Iron Grip 45’s and 2 10’s for $100. They are so snug on the bar that I won’t need any clips to keep them on.

Back in the home gym action![/quote]

Good deal!

Gettin fat? I thought you had da ript abz!!!1!!11

It’s cuz I’m on a culking cycle, brah!

.

Had a kid buttonhole me at the gym after watching me go through my bench day.

“Hey, man, how many exercises you do for chest?”

“2 main movements, 1st for 3 sets of 1-3 reps the second for 3-5 sets of 3-5 reps. Might do a finisher for blood flow and endurance. I did more today since I was trying out a new lift.”

“How many calories a day do you eat?”

“About 3000 on a good day.”

“What are you training for?”

“Strength.”

He was a classic pumper. Bunches of little exercises done for high reps and he had a pretty good pump going in the arms. So did I for that matter.

I’m getting noticed, not necessarily because I’m strong (can’t claim that) but because I do weird movements with more weight than most folks in there use.

We’ll see if anything comes of it - whether he wants to know more.

Feelin’ squirrely so I went for a lower body workout a day early:

12-02-2008
Lower

Deadlift
135x5
225x5
315x4
405x3
495x1 (Weight PR +30)
515x1 (Weight PR +50!)

465x1 ( this is my old PR)

Back was done with DL’s after that.

Speed Squats to 15" box (Below parallel for me)
225x3
+small bandsx3
+avg bands minus small bands x 3
+small bands x 3
+20x3
+40 6x3

Was using 125 DBs to hold the bands. They started scooting at the top so I think all told it was 500+ at the top. 265 on the bar and 250 in tension.

Hack squat
6 plates x20

Dried and fried. I’m gonna hurt tomorrow in the best way.

So I’ve hit my DL milestone, time to work on the squat seriously and backburner the DL.

That is a HUGE pr… congratulations
and nice work!

kmc

Thanks kmc. That’s about 1-1/2 years work to get there.

Chris Drummond over at teamstaley.com gave me the program that finally locked it in.

400 squat - here I come.

2.5+ x BW pull! That is outstandingly adequate. Screw the small gains and just jump the PR up there. Well done.

wtg on the pr skid

Congrats on the big pull. Most impressive.

WOW - ‘grats on the deadlift PR and here’s lookin’ forward to the squat PR!

Thanks all.

400 squat is a foregone conclusion! Think 500…
OL

You pulled twice my BW. Damn you’re a strong SOB.

Gettin’ there…

Strong starts at 555

Reading what you’re pulling gives me a kick in the ass to put some more weight on the bar.

Only a year and a half to get there! I’m impressed. Dang, I’m hoping to get to half of what you are lifting.

You will do much more than that.
