Thanks JT! I just hope I can make #3 an automatic thing.
Really wanted to train lower body today (a good sign in itself), but instead had a fun day in the sun watching my son and his friends boogie board at the beach and talking with my wife. Dug holes in the sand, got lobster legs. Collected the boys and got everyone dropped where they needed to be and then went to a friends house for some good company.
Thinking of getting a wetsuit and boogie board myself. That looks like a blast!

Fun times! I used to boogie board on the east coast and it is a blast.
Skid, I’ve tried but I can’t feel ‘pulling the bar apart’ when I bench.
The beach is a blast. We always have fun when we go.
Honestly, I can’t either. Chad Aichs reports that he tries to twist the bar outward with his hands as he benches.

Good session. Form not so clean on squats on the heaviest sets, but not bad either. Was going to do high box, but things felt good as they were so I left the height alone. Back is feeling not-tired I’m pushing the weight with my glutes rather than trying to lever with the quads.
Did power cleans instead of deads for speed pulls today. I think it was a good choice. My back still doesn’t want heavy weights on it for the whole session and I’ll be fresh for doing openers on the sixth.

Hey congrats on the PR and without that nagging leg pain either. A little rest went a long way…
Thanks Soldog - it did indeed. The foam rolling helped too. It was literally a big pain though.
I really hope this translates well to my opener and subsequent squat attempts.
I always think its cool when someone can clean more then they weigh. Looking strong. When is the meet date?
Wish you well on the meet. Glad your back and leg are coming along.

Glad for that, looks like you are cleared for takeoff.
Just getting caught up with you Mr. Skid, your really sounding in great shape. Good luck to you.
Cable/internet provider went down yesterday. All my work is done over the internet so I had a nice day off. Went to the beach and pretended I wasn’t looking at the girls.
Thanks guys for the good wishes.
eco, the meet is in 9 days. I’m doing one last assistance day today (rows, shoulders and maybe hamstrings) and then I do my meet openers on Saturday. After that it’s all light rehab/prehab work - or nothing - until the following Saturday.
I’m not quite where I wanted to be on my squat, but I haven’t taken a break for a while so I may get a real good rebound effect Especially if I eat a bunch.
Damn Skid, that’s a strong clean. I think you are looking good for your meet.

Thanks JW.
It’s going to be nice to know how my son feels when he competes. It’s never been just me in competition. I’ve always been part of a team. I’m looking forward to seeing what I can do.

Interesting point Skid. I have always been a football guy, buried in the o-line. Other than the intra- gym contest I participated in I have never done individual events. I know it takes a different mindset. Plus for me, all your “warts” are exposed. Nothing to hide. I guess that is why I’m always envious of the guys and ladies here that compete in golf, track, lifting, martial arts, etc. It takes balls…
Good luck on your meet. I think you will do well.
