Thanks for the Breakdown ID.
I like this interview thing. Can you give me some insight into this song as well:
I can feel it coming in the air tonight, Oh Lord
I’ve been waiting for this moment, all my life, Oh Lord
Can you feel it coming in the air tonight, Oh Lord, Oh Lord
Well, if you told me you were drowning
I would not lend a hand
I’ve seen your face before my friend
But I don’t know if you know who I am
Well, I was there and I saw what you did
I saw it with my own two eyes
So you can wipe off the grin, I know where you’ve been
It’s all been a pack of lies
And I can feel it coming in the air tonight, Oh Lord
I’ve been waiting for this moment for all my life, Oh Lord
I can feel it in the air tonight, Oh Lord, Oh Lord
And I’ve been waiting for this moment all my life, Oh Lord, Oh Lord
Well I remember, I remember don’t worry
How could I ever forget, it’s the first time, the last time we ever met
But I know the reason why you keep your silence up, no you don’t fool me
The hurt doesn’t show; but the pain still grows
It’s no stranger to you or me
And I can feel it coming in the air tonight, Oh Lord…
LOL!
ID, do you have a pocket version of yourself for those of us who would benefit from your wisdom on a daily basis? Like a Manwee or … oh, actually Manwee doesn’t sound right at all let’s try that again…
Like a Wee Manlet or something? =D

LOL!
Well, when someone of authority asks you for your ID… there you have it. ![]()

ID Question: Who do you prefer between Frank Frazetta and Boris Vallejo? And why?
And if you dislike or don’t know of either, fuck you and I’ll leave the thread.
I love this question! Frazetta was a huge influence on my own art AND my lifting pursuits as a teen.
Although both artists were great painters who understood human anatomy very well, it was Frazetta who possessed the ability to truly show an action moment frozen in time. His painting style was more robust… which reflected the action of the scene portrayed. His knowledge of anatomy gave his figures a convincing volume and physicality.
Boris, on the other hand was more of a technician. He accurately rendered the physique in fine brushstrokes and great finesse. However, his scenes were based on poses of the models he hired in his studio, or photos he took. Not a bad thing, but Boris was a slave to what he saw before him, and not as much on what he knew. For example, in a scene where the true action called for a figure to be pushing forward, he would show the muscles of the OPPOSITE action flexed as well.
Both great in their own ways, but I choose Frazetta.

I have to leave this thread now before I turn gay. Like, seriously, lol. =P
edit - just realised that might be misconstrued lol, suffice it to say it is a compliment ^^

AHHH~ that makes more sense~
thanks Wolly!
Okay, lets shift gears here for a moment. what do you think of Pink Floyd, are you a fan? what do you think of their use of imagery, and do you consider their music positive in nature?
Why do you think that they use outside input, such as unrelated voices, and sounds? to me, its distracting and it leaves an unsettled feeling. Uncomfortable.
fwiw - Rob Zombie uses the same unrelated soundtracks, but for some reason it is more acceptable…do you have any thoughts on this?
Lyrics don’t speak to me. It’s all about the bass.

what does it mean to you when the Allmen Bros sing this?
Lyrics:
I’ve been run down
I’ve been lied to
I don’t know why,
I let that mean woman make me a fool
She took all my money
Wrecks my new car
Now she’s with one of my good time buddies
They’re drinkin’ in some cross town bar
Sometimes I feel
Sometimes I feel
Like I’ve been tied
To the whipping post
Tied to the whipping post
Tied to the whipping post
Good lord I feel like I’m dyin’
My friends tell me
That I’ve been such a fool
And I have to stand down and take it babe,
All for lovin’ you
I drown myself in sorrow
As I look at what you’ve done
Nothin’ seems to change
Bad times stay the same
And I can’t run
Sometimes I feel
Sometimes I feel
Like I’ve been tied
To the whipping post
Tied to the whipping post
Tied to the whipping post
Good lord I feel like I’m dyin’
Sometimes I feel
Sometimes I feel
Like I’ve been tied
To the whipping post
Tied to the whipping post
Tied to the whipping post
Good lord I feel like I’m dyin’
you can’t tell me that you don’t feel anything in that heart of yours…

Frank Zappa told this story: He said, You know, about six or eight times, in-between songs, somebody would scream out while we’re playing, “Play Whipping Post!!!” We were walking off the stage in Germany one night and somebody screamed “Play Whipping Post!” Zappa said, “I looked at everybody in the band and I said, next time some motherfucker yells that out we gonna play it.” And they learned it and he said that’s one of their favorite cover songs of all times. And they did a great job.
If you’ve ever heard Zappa’s version of Whipping Post, it was incredible. He had Ian Underwood playing with him at the time. I forget who the singer was but he sang the hell out of it. They played it all the time, but it was because somebody screamed “Play Whipping Post” too many times, and Zappa was the kind of guy that would do that. He was something special. We’ll miss him.
Flashbacks.

Metal Question:
You think Metallica would be nearly as successful if Cliff Burton survived and was still an active member?
Speaking of Dave Mustaine…This question was asked on Much Music live(Canada’s version of mtv) a few years ago. The first correct answer won a Dave Mustaine signature series guitar, not the high end one though, it’s Canada, we’re cheap.
I knew the correct answer right away but I didn’t call in, stoopid. Even if I did call I would have been disqualified on account my sister worked for them in another department, fuck!
Question: What guitarist influenced Dave to play a flying V?
This should be easy.

Micheal Schenker?
Some points:
I’m not a Pink Floyd fan. Never was.
In heavy metal, even the heaviest guitar riffing means nothing if the bass doesn’t sound like a throbbing thunderous rumble from Hell. In other words, heavy metal wouldn’t be heavy without a right proper bass. I’d even argue that you could lose the guitar altogether and it could STILL be considered heavy metal as long as the bassline is a ball-buster.
Whipping Post is my favorite Allman’s song (besides Melissa). Anyone could cover it if they keep the conviction, and it would still be a great song.
Zappa was an amazing musician and human being. RIP Frank.

Speaking of… I saw the Black Crowes open for MSG back in '90. First time the Crowes played Philly. Incredible show.
Anyone remember UFO?

neither am I, but I would still like to hear your thoughts on the use of outside noises/chatter/soundtrack that is used from time to time.
like the phrase ‘you dont get any pudding if you dont eat your meat’
I think this is distracting, and takes away from their creativity, if they had any, that is~

I had all of thier albums, and was a huge MSG fan. Saw him play at Hard Rock in Sacramento about 5 years ago - he can still play.
can’t speak much english, tho~

Correct!
On a related note, I remember Dave saying in an interview that when they sell one of his top-o-line signature series guitars, proper harware and all,($1700-$2200) he got like six bucks, he’s a bitter dude.

Well, even though I like pudding, I’d just eat twice as much meat and skip the pudding. Nobody’s getting anything over on me - least of all Floyd.
Back in the day (when I’d indulge in a little weed) Floyd’s sound effects were quite captivating in among my head-landscape. LOL Other than that, it’s like pasting phonographs of real eyes on the Mona Lisa. Interesting for a moment, then…
