Edgy

I’m a hopeless romantic. Have you actually listened to that song?
Plus, I love latin guitar.

I get that you’re a romantic.
I get that latin guitar is awesome, I’m a fan myself.

but Bryan Adams is Canadian.

LMFAO!!!

this dude is awesome.

Totally!

Thanks Edgy. I had never heard of him, but now I’m going to pick up a CD or two.

Nazareth’s version of love hurts is great…but Bryan adams? SRSLY? and you thought you would get flamed for Stairway?..ha ha!

In the “cool story brah” vein, when I was travelling through India I hung out for a while with an Aussie and a Canadian who were travelling together.

One night in Jaisalmer the Canadian got pant shittingly drunk and got up on a table in an eatery, much to the bemusement of the locals, and publically apologised for Celine Dion, Alanis Morrisette and Bryan Adams.

I tried the straight-faced test with a guitarist friend of mine.

I said “Hey, I’ve been getting into Latin guitar a lot these days, you know, like Bryan Adams.”

That line was greeted by a constitpated look of confusion.

FIXED

You want Latin ID, found this awhile back, Alex Skolnick of Testament does the solo. I think it was written as a Tribute to Dime. Fuck I miss that guy.

Question: Do you think guitarst’s of different styles could play other styles if they felt like it?

There are some country, jazz, blues etc players that are phenominal players, however I would love to hear them try to play metal.

I’m in no way slamming anyone I just think it would be cool to see Brad Paisley or some other dude give it a try, they have the talent to do anything I’d imagine. Who knows, maybe some of these guys were metalheads as kids and can shread but why bother now right.

Same with that Trout guy. Like Steely mentioned in that blues thread, cool phrasing, incredible technique. I’d be interested in hearing how he would approach a metal tune, it could be wild.

There’s a sensibility that comes with one’s ability.

That said, anyone accomplished enough within his genre would most certainly do better at jumping genres than a newb.

However, it’s interesting to note that rock bands like the Rolling Stones or The Black Crowes can EASILY switch to country - and convincingly so. I don’t think most hardcore country acts could switch convincingly to real rock though.

Same with actors. Real comedy is difficult to get right for most serious dramatic actors. Yet guys like Tom Hanks, Robin Williams, and Jim Carey not only made the switch to serious roles, but did them exceptionally well.

Not sure if I answered you, BJB.

Somewhat.

LOL -

that song cracks me up.

I was waiting for a girl, and I was little late, and I thought she’d run off with the first truck driver she could find. but there she was, a little bleary, worse for wear and tear.

hilarious~

Dead flowers by the Stones is one of my favourite country songs.

They are a bit parody-ish though when they do country.

As for blues, I watched that Scorcese doco “shine a light” and when Buddy Guy gets up and does his thing, you sunddenly realise just what a skinny little white boy from a posh school playing at being a bluesman Jagger really is.

Primus…your thoughts?

Appreciate the musicianship. Other than that, they never did shit for me.

Waits with finger-rolling anticipation.

edit - annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd bombed. Don’t worry Edgy - here’s a high-5!

While latin is on the page - you ever felt the mood for some proper Spanish flamenco, ID?
